Historia
For generations, nobles have gathered at a scenic estate once per year to compete. What transpires there is spoken of only in rumors, save for the prizes. Potent, powerful, and precious; the winners are said to receive a gift from magic itself. Reeling after their loss to Kalzidar, the adventurers from Maplebark can only press forward, following advice imparted by the gods. Their divine directions will lead them on a series of twisting paths, branching between old friends and new challenges, before ultimately pointing at a particular estate on a specific evening.

fun read
Revisado: 08-26-22
the book itself flows nicely and is fun to read.
the weaker points are that I never once felt like the protagonists encountered any actual challenge, it was a walk in the park. A nice walk perhaps but a walk nonetheless. So as a book I enjoyed reading it, but didn't feel so much about it. It didn't touch me as strongly as other books, but that's not always a bad thing.

Historia
The Omehi people have been fighting an unwinnable war for generations. The lucky ones are born gifted: some have the power to call down dragons, others can be magically transformed into bigger, stronger, faster killing machines. Everyone else is fodder, destined to fight and die in the endless war. Tau Tafari wants more than this, but his plans of escape are destroyed when those closest to him are brutally murdered. With too few gifted left the Omehi are facing genocide, but Tau cares only for revenge.

Interesting idea, bad execution
Revisado: 11-07-20
In short, this reads like an action movie, or a video game,
There aren't a lot of deep ideas in this book, The main character doesn't really pay any discernable price for it's actions, and the solution to almost every problem the protagonist face is try harder.
That being said the book has it's fight scenes and cathartic closures, mostly in it's midpart, which is probably the best.
The setting and worldbuilding are unreal in the sense that they wouldn't hold in an actual scenario. The economy is illogical and a lot of details don't really make sense. The characters get wounded and come back to battle to quickly for it to matter that they have been almost mortally wounded a few hours back and that kind of makes everything not matter some times.
That being said, if you understand that it's not a book to think about too deeply, it's a fun ride and has it's fair share of cool fight scenes. If I pick up the next installment, it's because I want to turn my mind off, not on.

The intervention of Belagren, High Priestess of the Shadowdancers, and the sacrifice of a child of royal blood, has banished the Age of Shadows from the skies. Belagren's position is unquestioned...until circumstances begin to tip political rivalries into a deadlier game altogether.

Inconsistent character personalities
Revisado: 04-24-20
I found myself breezing through the first half of the book, throughout the second part I started losing interest in the characters since they started acting less and less like humans and more and more like tools the author used to progress the plot, doing things that aren't really what I'd expect them to do based on my 10-15 hours of acquaintance with them and all of their previous actions. The ending wasn't as bad as the climax of the book, which I think I generally disliked.
I find that there were a bit too many coincidences and out of character actions for me to make the story believable.
The writing and narration themselves are good, which is important to note.
All of that said, I'd lie of I'd say I'm not invested in the plot, and chances are I'll pick up the sequel and listen to it as well. Though I don't entirely feel like it.

very good advice, very watered down
Revisado: 06-22-18
First of all, the advice given in this book is good and useful. however, the amount of self praise stories the author tells us are corny and make up 80% of the book. I would rather just listen to the advice and not hear about so many people.
also, the fact that the author merely quotes results of researches without referring to what they actually did is concerning, as I have no idea about the validity of some of the "backed up by research" facts she gives which tend to sound more like popular science.
Despite that, I'm most definitely going to use what I got in this book and it could be extremely helpful to anyone, perhaps you might want to try a summarised version though.

good points, hard to follow
Revisado: 05-25-18
The book itself made some good points and definitely had some strong chapters, at times it was more hard to follow though. probably better as a regular book.
