Huge disappointment!
Revisado: 06-16-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A better plot and more action. More believable characters.
What was most disappointing about Lee Child’s story?
Soooooooo slow! I was introducing Reacher to my husband and was embarrassed that this was so boring and slow. What happened to the exciting fast moving plots of earlier Reacher books? Now we won't try another Reacher.
Which scene was your favorite?
None. Turner did not sound like a commander but more like a mid level person. Plot got confusing at the end. Overall it was awful, to my mind. I've listened to many Reachers but sadly this is the last.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Never Go Back?
Most of them
Any additional comments?
Even Dick Hill seemed off his game. Timing so slow, I thought he was another reader. He sounded like he was trying to drag it out.

Revisado: 10-08-12
I haven't finished the book yet, I'm about 2/3 of the way through, so I probably shouldn't be reviewing it yet, but I have been totally drawn into the plot and the characters. The narrator does a superb job, with her Irish accent. Tana French writes beautifully, almost poetically at times! I can't wait to get back to my daily walk tomorrow when I'll continue the book.

Historia
Convalescing in Sandytown, Dalziel befriends Charlotte Heywood who is researching the benefits of alternative therapy. With much in common, the two soon find themselves in league when trouble comes to town. Sandytown's principal landowners have grandiose plans for the resort -- none of which they can agree on. One of them has to go, and when one of them does, in spectacularly gruesome fashion, DCI Peter Pascoe is called in to investigate -- with Dalziel and Charlotte providing unwelcome support.

a bit confusing
Revisado: 09-24-12
What made the experience of listening to A Cure for All Diseases the most enjoyable?
the language and accents, the humor. Dalziel is a wonderful, unique character.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Not exactly. The plot was a bit confusing. I enjoyed The Woodcutter much more.
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Keeble’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
He is excellent.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
no
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed The Woodcutter and decided to hear other Reginald Hill books. Unfortunately I found this confusing, too many similar characters and a rather convoluted plot. But it was completely entertaining, and I'll try others. I'd like to know which Reginald Hill books are considered the best by other readers.

long and boring
Revisado: 04-22-11
I read all of Henning Mankell's books and loved Wallender, but this book was just too long and boring. Is Mankell running out of steam? The story seemed to wander around and it was hard to keep interested.

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

Fabulous!
Revisado: 04-22-11
I loved this book, and listening to it with the three different readers as the main characters made it truly come to life! I never read the book in print, but I imagine that this is a case where listening to the book was far superior to reading it in print. I'm old enough to remember what it was like in the 1960s, and the descriptions in this book rang true - even though I lived in the North, many things were similar to what was happening in the South in those days. The characters and story were wonderful, and I was sorry when the book ended. I recommended it to friends and family who loved it as well.

Before he was considered a CIA superagent, before he was thought of as a terrorist's worst nightmare, and before he was both loathed and admired by the politicians on Capitol Hill, Mitch Rapp was a gifted college athlete without a care in the world...and then tragedy struck.

Disappointing and boring
Revisado: 04-22-11
I found this boring, with cliche characters and plot, no real suspense, and too much violence - Mitch Rapp just loves killing and shows no remorse. He's a one-dimensional character. I'm sure Vince Flynn wanted to show how he became an assassin, since this deals with him as a young man getting into the business, but I still found the glorification of killing horrifying. The torture scenes were gruesome. The plot was confusing, with various political factions fighting and no real explanation of their differences. Most of the characters sounded the same. I read Act of Treason first and thought it was much better. Lee Child's Jack Reacher is a more interesting character than Mitch Rapp.

The Pyramid is the long-awaited addition to Henning Mankell's critically celebrated and internationally best-selling Kurt Wallander mystery series: the book of five short mysteries that takes us back to the beginning. Here are the stories that trace, chronologically, Wallander's growth from a rookie cop into a young father and then a middle-aged divorcé, illuminating how Wallander became a first-rate detective and highlighting new facets of a now canonical character.
