Heart Wrenching and Beautiful
Revisado: 07-26-24
I finished the whole Anne series. And I loved all of the books in the series. I didn’t know what I’d think about a book where Anne is not the main character, but it worked. To see Anne through her child’s perspective. And the War stories and themes were touching and heart wrenching.

Historia
The intensely personal David Copperfield (widely regarded to be the most autobiographical of the author’s novels) is one of Dickens’ greatest works. We follow David Copperfield from birth and miserable childhood to inevitable tragedies, until he finally finds happiness later in life. Full of some of the most memorable characters in literary history. Nicholas Boulton’s depiction of the oily Uriah Heep and David Copperfield’s sinister stepfather, Murdstone, do the novel full justice.

Narrator is excellent! And I was glad to listen rather than read as the story was so depressing at times, listening helped me push through. It all paid off and I am so glad to have been blessed by this book. Beautiful. Fulfilling.

Historia
At the start of the Revolutionary War, there were more than thirteen British colonies in North America. Patriots were surrounded by Indigenous homelands and loyal provinces. Independence had its limits. In this book, historian Jeffers Lennox looks north, as so many Americans at that time did, and describes how Loyalists and Indigenous leaders frustrated Patriot ambitions, defended their territory, and acted as midwives to the birth of the United States while restricting and redirecting its continental aspirations.

Exciting! Expanded my understanding and knowledge
Revisado: 11-28-23
I loved this book! After reading it I immediately wanted to share everything I'd learned with those around me. My understanding of Canada's influence on United States history expanded and grew. Last week during Thanksgiving dinner I was rambling all about what I had learned about the Quebec Act to my parents (and for context, I'm not a history major or anything: I'm a film major).
In my BYU history class, the author visited us and answered all of our questions thoroughly. He really knows his stuff, and I do not regret a second I spent learning from this book (and writing an essay based on Lennox's words).
I would recommend this book to anyone seeking to better understand some of the major decisions and elements that helped the colonies become The United States of America (hint: Canada was a big part of it).

Love this reader! M. Wemitt brings this story to life. Listened while traveling and it was just the right length and touch for a fun, lighthearted read.

Chilling (in a good way)
Revisado: 03-22-19
The narrator’s voice for the different characters are so delightful, and you can tell who’s speaking before he tells you. His voice for the Wretch is so scary. He’s so good.
The story, without any spoilers, is non stop tension.
The writing is fantastic, and kept me on the edge of my seat even before any action had even begun. And then when it does... wow. This book walks a fine line between a physiological (make you think) book and a thriller. Really fun read.

Will he sound like Severus??
Revisado: 11-14-17
I was a bit worried that he would sound like Snape, and while he obviously did (because it's literally the same voice) it was not AT ALL distracting.
He speaks so slowly that you can put it on double speed (probably triple speed as well) and still understand perfectly.
One star off because the story is kinda slow going, but I got through it in two weeks and really enjoyed it. It's a dramatic love story, which I like.
I would recommend it.
