Approval
Revisado: 12-28-19
This was my first book with this author and I found her h;er approach sincere and down to earth. I found her most powerful sections in the book were on approval and shame. She helped me see how others might see my action and how to interpret others. This book was not only helpful in my communication at work, but also at home with my children. A must read for anyone who experience resistance in relationships at work and at home.

survival
Revisado: 09-29-19
A very complex weaving of the lives of Chinese immigrants during the Japanese invasion of China, world war II, China 's civil war, communism, American immigration policies, Mccarthyism and all the road blocks imposed on the human desire to be safe from harm and free to pursue those ideals so eloquently spelled out in the constitution of the United States. This book is a must read not only for all those who have roots that germinated in China, but to all who cherish and believe in the ideals of the American constitution. The stories of the struggles in the lives mentioned in this book will not be easy to listen to, but will definitely make you appreciate where we are today and the struggles that are still ongoing.

Historia
For much of his life, historian Howard Zinn chronicled American history from the bottom up, throwing out the official version taught in schools - with its emphasis on great men in high places - to focus on the street, the home, and the workplace. Known for its lively, clear prose as well as its scholarly research, A People's History of the United States is the only volume to tell America's story from the point of view of - and in the words of - America's women, factory workers, African-Americans, Native Americans, the working poor, and immigrant laborers.

America the beautiful to some but not to all
Revisado: 09-04-19
this is a heart wrenching history of the creation of America based on documents left by those who were here during the early formation of the republic. The understanding of our history is vital to the Democratic ideals of not only America but to humanity. A great book, beautifully narrated in Audible, and a must read for everyone interested in the Democratic values of humanity.

Historia
Masuo Yasui arrived in America in 1903 with big dreams and empty pockets. He worked on the railroads, in a cannery, and as a houseboy before settling in Oregon to open a store, raise a large family, and become one of the area's most successful orchardists. But his family's life changed forever on December 7, 1941, when they were forced from their homes into vast inland camps. Although shamed and broken, the Yasui family would yet endure to claim their place as Americans.

An American Injustice
Revisado: 08-11-18
Although this may be a Japanese American journey into America, it speaks about the ugliness, prejudice, and hate as well as the kindness, strength and heart of humanity in America. Unfortunately, we have not yet learn the lessons of yesteryears.
