Historia
In this bold and stylish critique, Cornell philosopher Kate Manne offers a radical new framework for understanding misogyny. Ranging widely across the culture, from Harvey Weinstein and the Brett Kavanaugh hearings to “Cat Person” and the political misfortunes of Elizabeth Warren, Manne’s book shows how privileged men’s sense of entitlement - to sex, yes, but more insidiously to admiration, care, bodily autonomy, knowledge, and power - is a pervasive social problem with often devastating consequences.

Way too sexual and disgusting
Revisado: 01-13-25
It's very easy to tell the bias of the author politically. It's so sexual it should be rated. I simply don't believe most of what is said here.

Historia
A scientist's exploration into the mysteries of the human mind. Neuroscience studies the brain, but what does science have to say about the mind? A full examination of what we mean by the term "mind" has traditionally been the province of philosophers, but what might neuroscience teach us about it? How does the mind differ from consciousness? And how do we know who we really are?

If you like to hear about his journey in writing the book, then go for this one I wanted it to be more about what is the mind! Not his experiences of losing Tom we all lose people we love, but don't dedicate a whole chapter on it

Historia
This book investigates Judaism at its best—and sanest. It strips away outdated and harmful beliefs that have accrued over the centuries and returns to the essential truths that are too-often ignored in favor of tradition, tribal identity, or the claims of the powerful. The result is a vibrant Judaism for the twenty-first century and beyond—a Judaism that draws deeply from history and scripture yet addresses the unmet needs of the present and the future. It is a Judaism that is open and accessible to everyone.

While the book is about Judaism, without tribalism, it could apply to any kind of religion that is tribal.

Historia
Based on a thorough study of Greek life and civilization, of Greek literature, philosophy, and art, The Greek Way interprets their meaning and brings a realization of the refuge and strength the past can be to us in the troubled present. Miss Hamilton's book must take its place with the few interpretative volumes which are permanently rooted and profoundly alive in our literature.

Book is beautifully read. The audio has some slight recording issues (nothing substantial). Overall a great read.

Revisado: 10-22-20
While I understand this is about listening to audible performed well. I would appreciate the stories to be not about a creep stocking Amanda. As a woman who has been stocked before I would appreciate not remembering it. Thank you

Historia
In the tradition of Bertrand Russell's Why I Am Not a Christian and Sam Harris' recent best-seller, The End of Faith, Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion. With a close and erudite reading of the major religious texts, he documents the ways in which religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression, and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos.

Poor performance voice over works better
Revisado: 07-15-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Your audible way of doing things sucks up so much memory it's not worth the almost 4 dollars extra to the book... This book in particular I tried to download while it shows a positive download and I can't hear it I do not see from my end of it the little earphones icon and I'll never do this again! Thank god for voice over making audible quite unnecessary and cheaper too.
