I liked the story. I thought it very original. The reader’s ability to switch personalities and genders while also doing the accents was impressive. Quite a voice actor. I will be looking for more of the author’s books and the actor’s work.

Cute next installment, overly dramatized reading

I enjoyed the book as far as the story and the plot. However, the reader is overly dramatized which makes snaps me out of the story. The reader should be intrusive and this reading has exaggerated tones, too much dragging on at the end of words. Nobody uses that many notes for one or two words. Her voice is beautiful and I think she could be more natural. I think the director needs to work on this because it ruins an otherwise beautiful voice.

I like having these additions to The Secret. Some of it is repeated from other books of hers, but I need the repetition right now, and it helps me to read these at night before going to sleep. Inspiring. Thank you.

Beautiful story superbly read

I don’t usually enjoy books of this kind because they can be weighed down with facts, figures, details that make it hard to follow and stay engaged. However, this book I enjoyed and was in such suspense, I kept looking up parts of the Antarctic on Google Earth as the narration described where the party were located at different times. Whatever possessed them to do what they did, whether remarkably foolish or incredibly brave, or both, it it is an amazing story and the author and reader made it come alive.

Love this author and reader

This is my second book from this author and reader pairing. The story is fun and the reader does a superb job of bringing it to life. I laughed so much. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes detective type stories and a good laugh.

Great content, sing songy reading

The book is great. Get it in print. The reader finishes almost every phrase or sentence with an increase in the note of his voice, then a decrease. Every sentence except a handful. It eventually becomes jarring. It is forced. A more natural conversational tone would do. Sounds robotic, like he is putting emphasis on the wrong words and sounds of each sentence. If you are sensitive to this sort of thing get the book in print, or it will be a painful read. I wish readers of their own books would get some direction and voice coaching.

Superb reader, story is entertaining but...

I loved the reader. He was just wonderful. Clear, good with the different voices, good pace. The story was entertaining as far as old crime novels go. I enjoy detective stories from any era or country. It looks like the original was published in 1913 in England. The one objectionable item is the use of the “n” word in parts of the book. Clearly it was a time when people thought nothing of it, but to me it sounded harsh because we don’t or shouldn’t use words like that to refer to each other. So just be forewarned about it.
