I have no way to actually articulate how much I loathe and regret reading this book. I am exhausted. That was just seemingly endless materialism, pettiness, misogyny, torture, and murder . Prolonged scenes of rape, murder, and torture told from an ambiguous first person narrative that really can't be trusted to know if any of it is true, or just his madness manifesting in his head. I believe it to be the latter. Doesn't make it easier to read.

I hated the story. I hated the narration. I kept listening, hoping it would get better. It didn't.
