Historia
An electrifying first novel that shocks by its language, its circumstances, and its brutal honesty, Push recounts a young black street-girl's horrendous and redemptive journey through a Harlem inferno. For Precious Jones, 16 and pregnant with her father's child, miraculous hope appears, and the world begins to open up for her when a courageous, determined teacher bullies, cajoles, and inspires her to learn to read, to define her own feelings, and set them down in a diary.

insightful.powerful.unyielding.
Revisado: 10-18-19
An exceptional performance to accompany an extraordinary story. Nothing about this book is easy or safe, it is simply amazing. the edges are sharp and will force you to pay attention. A must-hear for any literary or audio-preffered lover of stories. Sapphire drags you by force into her world of the illiterate 80's tHrough the eyes of precious, and illiterate incest victim who fights to claim an identity for herself through education and escape the trauma of her past. Worth a listen.

Historia
You've eaten too much candy at Christmas...but have you ever eaten the face off a six-foot stuffed Santa? You've seen gingerbread houses...but have you ever made your own gingerbread tenement? You've woken up with a hangover...but have you ever woken up next to Kris Kringle himself? Augusten Burroughs has, and in this caustically funny, nostalgic, poignant, and moving collection he recounts Christmases past and present - as only he could.

Historia
Dan Savage eviscerates the right-wing conservatives as he commits each of the Seven Deadly Sins himself (or tries to) and finds those everyday Americans who take particular delight in their sinful pursuits. Combine a unique history of the Seven Deadly Sins, a new interpretation of the biblical stories of Sodom and Gomorrah, and enough Bill Bennett, Robert Bork, Pat Buchanan, Dr. Laura, and Bill O'Reilly bashing to more than make up for their incessant carping, and you've got the most provocative book of the fall.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. Dan savage is a formidable pundit, hilarious realist and has an acerbic wit that comes through his reading of his own words.
