Historia
Flint Hopkins finds the perfect tenant to rent the space above his Minneapolis-based law office. All the t's are crossed and i's dotted on Ellen's application. Her references are good. And she's easy on the eyes. Until... Flint discovers Ellen Rodgers plays music. Bongos, guitars, singing - not Beethoven administered through noise-cancelling headphones. The cut-throat attorney serves up an eviction notice to the bubbly, constantly humming redhead who's too sexy for her own good. But luck is on Ellen's side when Flint's autistic son, Harrison, takes an instant liking to her.

Deep story
Revisado: 04-11-25
This is a new author to me and it seems she usually writes about young adults so I was glad these characters were at least in their 30's. This older story packed a lot- death, alcoholism, aging parent, autism, pregnancy, divorce etc. But the author handled these serious topics with a light touch, it never felt sad. Characters were likable. Male narrator was great but the female character took me awhile to get used to, sounded a bit too young.

There's no such thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediate yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there’s nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong . . . unless, of course, he can admit he made a mistake.

Love wins over all the sadness
Revisado: 04-03-25
I could not stop listening to these amazing narrators who carried this story with all the emotions. I learned so much about memory care and the sadness it causes family. This story had its funny moments but it was an overall sad story but the love of the two main characters was great but not a rom-com. It was nice to listen to a story with many 'good' humans described. Another great story by this author.

Historia
We all know someone like them: women whose lives revolve around their cats. Here Donald Davis paints verbal portraits of two very different women in his life who shared a fiercely unshakable sense of priorities. It was simply understood that the cats came first, and once you accepted that, everything else made perfect sense. Employing his trademark Carolina drawl, droll wit, and sharp observations, Davis is in top form here as he pays homage to these two remarkable women and their devotion to their feline families.

I ran across this short title by mistake and the two stories were so cute and feel good. I find stories of unusual humans to be so fun and I wish we had more of these.

Award-winning author William Kent Krueger has gained an immense fan base for his Cork O’Connor series. In Ordinary Grace, Krueger looks back to 1961 to tell the story of Frank Drum, a boy on the cusp of manhood. A typical 13-year-old with a strong, loving family, Frank is devastated when a tragedy forces him to face the unthinkable - and to take on a maturity beyond his years.

Descriptive writing
Revisado: 03-26-25
My first book by this author. I just recently heard about this book even though it is over 10 years old. The story is told by a man remembering his time in Minnesota at the age of 13. Not my normal interest but has great descriptive writing and mystery. The father is a gem with his faith and wisdom, that was worth the listen. Great narrator!

Historia
Beth and her gentle, kind husband Frank are happily married, but their relationship relies on the past staying buried. But when Beth’s brother-in-law shoots a dog going after their sheep, Beth doesn’t realize that the gunshot will alter the course of their lives. For the dog belonged to none other than Gabriel Wolfe, the man Beth loved as a teenager—the man who broke her heart years ago. Gabriel has returned to the village with his young son Leo, a boy who reminds Beth very much of her own son, who died in a tragic accident.

Well written
Revisado: 03-20-25
I could not stop listening to this story! The young main characters were well developed. There was passion/lust, love/loss and sadness, betrayal and several mysteries that unfolded in this family saga. I highly recommend this well written story.

This story really dragged and maybe its is because I don't care for time travel stories. But when the characters started discussing their woke agenda, I had no interest. Cannot recommend.

This has a feeling of the Nightingale, I read years ago. This is another sad war story but I liked the twist of the two timelines which were completely different stories and a bit of mystery. Narrators were great.

It’s Valentine’s Day weekend, and Charlotte and Seth are not looking for romance. Armed with emotional-support bear spray, Charlotte is in self-imposed isolation and on guard from men. Having a stalker can do that to a person’s nerves. Just across the hall and giving off woodsy vibes is Seth, a recently divorced arborist. As in today recently. Heights, he’s fine with. Trust? Not so much.
