Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Excellent Performances

Worth the Credit, folks. Actually the 2 lead characters had wonderful narration voices and acting. The plot held my interest and the character flaws all around were familiarly appropriate. The reader is drawn into the whole circle of tragedies. I liked it.

Historia
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

Not Up To Snuff
Revisado: 12-20-24
Found myself not very engaged in this one. Thought the new narrator did fine with his Canadian French, and definitely an improvement over Robert Bathurst.
The plot just didn’t float my boat. It felt dis jointed. The repetitive “ he smiled, she smiled”, a continuation from her last book, got on my nerves too, and there was more cursing. Disappointed. Maybe this series has reached its max appeal, though diehard fans probably gushed as usual.

When she makes those flippant remarks to her son over coffee one Friday, she has no inkling that within a few hours she will be facing the most terrifying situation of her life.

Historia
After the teenage daughter of a prominent Minnesota politician goes missing, a huge manhunt is launched to find her. But when Cork O’Connor’s grandson Waaboo stumbles across the shallow grave of a young Ojibwe woman while hunting blueberries, nobody seems to care. Nobody, that is, except Cork and the newly formed Iron Lake Ojibwe Tribal Police Department. As Cork and the tribal officers dig into the circumstances of her murder, they discover a link to the missing girl that suggests these are not isolated incidents, but evidence of something much more sinister.

Historia
She's just watching, thinking about it again, when a big flash car pulls up outside. No one gets out. Then the doors of the bar open and people appear. Two men and a youngish woman, and one of the men has a hold on the woman's arm. It looks as if they're having words. Then this all happens quickly—they push the woman towards the car, one of the back doors opens, and they manhandle her inside. Sarah hears a muffled shout from the woman and the car pulls away. It's all over in a few seconds.

This series is excellent. I got hooked on DCSmith first, then continued with this spinoff. Characters from a the Smith series are expanded/developed aided by the authors exceptional blend of plot and prose. The narrator is so good.

Not Quite Up To Par
Revisado: 06-22-24
Best aspects were the needed explanations about the previous book’s cliff hanger ending. The plot itself was rather laborious to listen to compared to earlier ones. I’ve listened to all. One has to adapt to this series pace. I actually love this series, and its main character, DCSmith. The narrator is excellent.

Loved it!!!
Revisado: 04-17-24
This second book in the DCSmith detective series is a great listen. Besides a good murder investigation, the dialogue full of Brit humor, delivered in their typical deadpan manner, had me grinning with delight. What a hoot. Characters continue to develop as well. It’s on to the next one!!!
