Historia
Two astronomers have detected a strange, pulsing signal from deep space. Within hours, the US government goes into lockdown, restricting airspace and scrubbing scientific data. Was the signal an intercepted communication revealing alarming plans for an enemy’s military strike? Or has humanity at long last found proof of extraterrestrial life?

Good quick listen
Revisado: 12-07-24
I’ve now spent more time than the length of the title itself trying to figure out who the full cast is. Mainly because I can’t get it out of my head that Malcolm is played by Josh Lyman. That thought going unverified distracted me the entire time.

Terrible Narration
Revisado: 02-02-23
This narration is incredibly hard to listen to. It’s almost like every sentence is read as two questions with no regard for context. I normally don’t leave reviews, but this was pretty bad.
Decent content on Hubbard though, some new to me even and I’ve read Skylar everything on Scientology.

Very Tight Standalone Fantasy
Revisado: 05-08-16
Brandon Sanderson is a master when it comes to creating new worlds. The world in this title is in the foreground and it does not disappoint. We have a good number of characters which are well written, and our two main protagonists complement each other very well.
There are 2.5 threads being woven together in this story, and one of them is really, really immersive. The politico story line starts out fantastic, with a very likable and quirky character, but it seems to drag on a bit.
The main thing about this title is the world and it is very fun watching our characters unravel the mysteries and work through ancient things that are now lost. The story is good enough to stay relevant as well.
On the whole, this is a great title. Definitely above average fantasy. However, far from Sanderson's best work.

The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave listeners shaking their heads in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

A Most Satisfying Conclusion
Revisado: 05-08-16
It's very rare that a storyteller is able to plant so many seeds without you noticing, and then actually have them pay off in the end. Whatever you may have put up with in the first two books (which were great), absolutely contributes to a fantastic and satisfying ending in the final installment here.
Great action, great use of the magic system. Wonderful peek into the history and lore of the world. This is more in line with the first book; Fast, action, dealing with the magic and world, overall plot. None of the stuff that made the second book boring is in this one.
If you read the first one, I find it very difficult to believe you won't finish the trilogy. You won't be disappointing.
Ultimately, the ending is satisfying. Unlike many books which kind of just stop at a certain point, this one builds up and delivers on an ending that was very much the intended end goal.

Fantastic Trilogy - Dull Middle Installment
Revisado: 05-08-16
The Well of Ascension puts on the brakes in a pretty hard way following the exciting first installment, Final Empire. This book deals with the aftermath of the events in the first, but that's really all it does. It's almost as if this was a fantasy/drama, with the emphasis on the drama side.
Rather than an Ocean's Eleven type heist plan being put together and torn apart, this book is heavy on relationships, love story, and politics. Which was really a bit disorienting and almost hard to get through.
However, I definitely recommend staying with it, because the last 100 pages are some of the best fantasy you'll ever read and sets up the final book (which is amazing) in the only way it could.
This Mistborn trilogy as a whole is really fun and great, but you'll have to accept the first 500 pages of this one as the necessary evil.

For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Absolutely Immersive
Revisado: 05-08-16
This has to be one of the strongest introductions to a new fantasy series. The book has a plethora of characters that are very well developed and fleshed out. To the point where different people will actually have different favorites. Our main protagonists are some of the more interesting people I've read in a while and complement each other VERY well.
The world this all takes place in is beautifully crafted and not overwhelming. Great for casual fantasy fans that don't want to read with a map on hand, although there ARE maps available. Sanderson does a great job of giving us just enough information about to world to keep the plot moving and exciting. This books somehow breaks the law of a boring second act.
Overall, the plot is very fast and thrilling. Think of Ocean's Eleven, with magic. A magic system incredibly through through and consistent. At first, the magic system may seem simple, but when you realize where Sanderson takes it, it's quite something.
This is without a doubt going to go down as one of the classic fantasy series.
Michael Kramer does a great job with the narration as well. Although, I do wish he added a little more personality to action scenes.
100% recommended. Even if you're not a huge fan of fantasy.

Weakest Plot Of Riyria Chronicles
Revisado: 05-08-16
This one starts out very strong and introduces us to a good number of characters. All of which are sufficiently fleshed out and narrated. However, the premise of the plot is very weak, and it isn't helped at all by a very dragged out second act.
Saying it's the weakest isn't saying much since Riyria has been absolutely top notch.
Tim Reynolds is an absolute master narrator and is the icing on top of the two characters we already love, Royce and Hadrian.
Bottom line, if you're a fan of Riyria and want more of Royce and Hadrian, you'll definitely find this title worth it. Just that though, worth it.

Revisado: 05-08-16
The plot and events are much tighter than previous books, and it still has that absurd humor to it. Martin Freeman does an amazing job.
While this is worth a listen, be prepared for a slightly disappointing ending, and possibly to stop the series after this installment.

Back on Earth with nothing more to show for his long, strange trip through time and space than a ratty towel and a plastic shopping bag, Arthur Dent is ready to believe that the past eight years were all just a figment of his stressed-out imagination. But a gift-wrapped fishbowl with a cryptic inscription, the mysterious disappearance of Earth’s dolphins, and the discovery of his battered copy of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy all conspire to give Arthur the sneaking suspicion that something otherworldly is indeed going on.

Couldn't wait for it to be over.
Revisado: 05-08-16
Arthur meets a girl. Arthur loses track of a girl. Arthur tries to find girl. Arthur stumbles onto to girl. They run off together.
That's literally it. I'm not summarizing (well...), there is literally not meat on that bone at all. There are a couple of scenes which I thought were fantastic, but it honestly felt like everything around it was written and pushed out just so Douglas Adams had a place to release those two jokes.
Fans of the series should stop at Life, the Universe, and Everything. People that just want to dip their toes, should stop at the first Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Martin Freeman as always is great!
