Great story but part missing

I love this book and this narrator, but there seems to be part of the story spliced out around 4.5 minutes in chapter 17. It bothers me enough that I’m buying another audiobook to replace this one.

Simon Vance portrayed Mrs. Finching and Mr. Dorrit so well, I like the audiobook better than the book.

Good story, ok reading

This book makes references to other books by Dee Henderson, so will be best enjoyed by her fans who have already read most of her other books. But it is not a sequel, exactly, and can be enjoyed as a story by itself. The reading of it will not spoil the other stories if they are read later.

The reading has a noticeable cadence that is slightly annoying at the beginning, but it either smooths out as the story progresses, or else I got into the story enough that I stopped noticing it. Tone and pronunciation are good.

The story is typical of Dee Henderson, with a plot that is bigger than reality but characters who are very believable and likable people.

The book is a favorite, the author is my all-time favorite, and I'm sure I will listen to the audio version more than once in the future.

Excellent narration

I enjoyed the plot and the writing style very much. The reading was perfect. The only reason I didn't give five stars to the story was because of the author's occasionally digressing into comparison of herself with other authors. This is humorous and entertaining in itself, but it momentarily distracts from the story.

Great reading

This is the best audiobook I've ever listened to. David Timson reads as if he practiced beforehand. His voice changes for each character, and he doesn't make mistakes in reading or in pronunciation. His reading is a performance. You can get just as engrossed in the story as if you were reading it yourself.

Besides this, the story is an old favorite. I would recommend this audiobook to anyone who loves Charles Dickens. I would not recommend it to anyone who is looking for a short story.

Great story, great reading

I love the story, it is a favorite. The reading added even more to it. The narrator does a good job distinguishing between different voices, and reads at just the right pace. There is even a different sound quality to voices coming over a phone or radio. Thoroughly enjoyed this audio book.
