Great Book Covering ETA
Revisado: 10-16-24
This book covers (and aligns with) the material you might find in an MBA ETA course. It covers details that really help provide context for the entire process, and it does a good job explaining how things tend to work in real life. It's also well performed and has a good pacing.

Easy read, but material is shallow
Revisado: 09-22-24
I was able to basically get through a chapter a listening session, and with each chapter being an isolated case study, reading it was easy. I got the full idea offered by the chapter in one sitting, which kept me interested each day. The format works well, at least for me.
With that being said, the actual content was pretty high-level (due to how short each chapter is). As a result, nothing felt particularly impactful. I think it worked well as like a sampling of ideas that you get piched on and that you could dive deeper on yourself, but otherwise I can't say I walked away with anything particularly meaningful.

Super Condensed MBA
Revisado: 08-07-24
Pretty good. Basically covers what you'd learn in an MBA program at a VERY high level. It's probably much more fruitful as someone's first step into formal business, but might be a bit basic for those with more experience. Still, there's stuff here for anyone to take away.

For decades The One Minute Manager has helped millions achieve more successful professional and personal lives. While the principles it lays out are timeless, our world has changed drastically since the book's publication. The exponential rise of technology, global flattening of markets, instant communication, and pressures on corporate workforces to do more with less - including resources, funding, and staff - have all revolutionized the world in which we live and work.

Short and Sweet
Revisado: 07-25-24
Although it's pretty high-level and narrowly focused, the length of this book means there's not a lot of fat to have to soft through. The narrative style seems a little unnecessary, but the concepts came through clearly and they seem pretty important to everyone, not just managers.

Pretty thorough
Revisado: 06-06-24
Seems like good reference material. If you can internalize and implement every point made in this book, you'd probably be off to a good start. Some of the advice may only apply to certain kinds of restaurants (the book seems to focus on slightly "higher end" restaurants), but most of the fundamentals presented would apply to many restaurants.
Probably not the best book to just read/through, and it'd be better consumed as needed, but overall good quality and worth the time.

Low Effort and Low Level
Revisado: 04-15-24
First, the author clearly recorded this two hour audiobook themselves over probably two hours. The performance is quite bad, with plenty of mispronounced words, stutters, poor flow, etc. It may not bother everyone, but I found it distracting and unprofessional.
Second, the material found in this book could be delivered in a few blog posts. Two hours is pretty short for an audiobook, but you probably could have got this information in 20 minutes of reading. There's a ton of fluff, but it only highlights the author's ineptitude.
I'd definitely pass. And knowing the author has written other books, I'm going to avoid them as well. Luckily this book is short and cheap, so I don't feel TOO cheated, but I definitely feel like I've been scammed. I'm not sure how good the author is at making money through commercial real estate, but I'm guessing his real money maker is getting chumps like me to buy this kind of trash.

Good Intro to these Concepts
Revisado: 04-09-24
Pretty good book, especially to be used as reference. Some of it is a bit low-level, obvious, or "fluffy," but it definitely offers a good overall introduction to this domain and how to approach it. It offers a lot of actionable advice that will benefit those who don't know where to start, but it may be too broad for those who are already somewhat knowledgeable of this subject or would prefer to skip the "pep talk" that more novice people would probably appreciate more.
