Historia
One man holds the key to locating the Ark of the Covenant - but he’s hidden deep in the desert and no one has seen him since he was a boy. In this explosive sequel to Blessed Child, Jewish soldier-turned-archaeologist Rebecca Soloman leads a team deep into the Ethiopian desert to find the one man who may know the final resting place of the Ark of the Covenant. Such a discovery would bring hope back to her people. Her search brings excitement and danger - including unexpected love and a discovery far more powerful than even the holy artifact.

Not for me
Revisado: 10-31-22
I didn't like this book as much as Blessed Child, which was great! Although the plot was interesting, it was hard to keep track of all the side stories and characters. A Man Called Blessed was too sappy and contained too much proselytizing.I honestly couldn't wait to finish it. Sorry Ted. To read more of my reviews, please google my name.

The Mormon Mirage was eye opening and well written! Dr. Latayne Scott provides plenty of documentation regarding LDS church theology.

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Historical romance
Revisado: 10-31-22
A friend in my book club chose this for our next monthly read. I don't normally read historical romance so I was a little leery, but I was pleasantly surprised. The characters were interesting and the writing was good, but the plot was formulaic and somewhat predictable. Still, it was light and entertaining and it was so nice to have a happy ending for a change!

This book just made me uncomfortable and depressed. But I kept reading it... kind of like gawking at a train wreck.

Historia
The quiet 1960s midwestern life of the Land family is upended when son Davy kills two marauders who have come to harm the family. The morning of his sentencing, Davy (a hero to some, a cold-blooded murderer to others) escapes from his cell, and the Lands set out in search of him. Their journey is touched by serendipity and the kindness of strangers, and they cover territory even more extraordinary than the Badlands, where they search for Davy from their Airstream trailer.

Tragically, they come from two different worlds. Elias is a Christian Arab living on the eastern side of the newly divided city, and Lila is a Jew living on the western side. A growing conflict between their cultures casts a heavy shadow over the region and their burgeoning relationship. Between them lie not only a wall of stone and barbed wire but also the bitter enmity of two nations at war.

Charming!
Revisado: 10-31-22
It was a charming book. The characters were memorable and although the plot was somewhat predictable, I enjoyed it nonetheless. There is nothing quite like a good love story.

Poor writing
Revisado: 10-31-22
I am giving this book just 3 stars for a few reasons. The plot was interesting enough (the love story was a little corny for my taste), but there were some grammatical and structural issues that were distracting. Many sentences were exceeding long with an over abundance of adjectives. The author definitely had fun writing It, though!

A real page-turner
Revisado: 10-31-22
It was a riveting story - a real page-turner - and the characters were flawed and interesting. The grammatical errors were disappointing though; without them I would have given the book five stars. Because of them, I am really at a 3.5.
