Tough decision

Many times in this genre, I end up reading books that seem to have stories that are somewhat slow and drawn out with a sprinkling of action to keep things entertaining.
These books, however, come right out and punch you in the face immediately then continue to beat you senseless til the very end.
I'm torn. I love exciting action packed stories but these might be just too intense. I literally cannot read these before bed or I can't sleep. I get so wound up that they occasionally give me a stomach ache.
It is all well written but I think they need to give the reader a break once in a while. Just too much intensity.

Surprising slowdown.

Really long.. The first 24 chapters didn't have much going on. The strong heroic characters seemed to get incredibly weak and indecisive. This book just felt rather long and drawn out which was a letdown compared to the earlier books. Maybe I was just spoiled..

Interesting story but..

These books are crazy long which makes it a bit of a chore to get through and the author is aware. Why then does every little thing in the story get drawn out what feels like forever? incredibly frustrating for the reader and probably takes up half the story. Every situation, characters have to ponder the meaning of life or reminisce for 30 minutes and it sucks the life out of the story.

Great series but.

Gotta say, it was an interesting story. Not as good as the first 2. The main character is special forces and a badadd. Unfortunately, it seems that every time someone dies, it is because he's standing around blabbering when safety is only feet or inches away. This tended to get old. Still, it's a good story and I'm hoping the next one does a little better.

I haven't worked and waited for something in this story to show the slightest glimmer of hope Thai it would pick up. I've sat through church sermons more exciting. That was 50 chapters worth of time I'll never get back.

Good story confusing at times.

So many similar names and things happening, it gets very confusing switching between scenarios. You need to pay attention.

I really tried.

I tried to stay with the books and story because I felt there was potential. Halfway through book 2, it was still soooo slow, dragging on white a main character that does nothing but whine and smother himself in a pity party that hasn't changed since the beginning. Maybe his name should have been Eeyore!

Little frustrated

When our main character is portrayed as a mindless, babbling coward throughout the book, it was very frustrating. I can see it early on but the fact that he never gets a spine was disappointing. Every battle, he never really grew or progressed. All that aside, it's still one of the best reads out there.

What an amazing series.

I can honestly say that I rarely give a written review but this series has been so incredible that I just had to say something.
Often times a series can drag on with interesting highlights here and there or starts strong and ends abruptly like the author bead under a time constraint. Sometimes stories get so outlandish or obvious that all you do is roll your eyes. I can honestly say the echoes saga has never once had me questioning the validity or direction of the story. It is one series I can honestly been the most enjoyable stories I've had the opportunity to experience.

Nonstop horrors and weak, weeping people.

I really tried to like this story but after 4 books of blathering, terrified people allowing everyone to be burned alive and the women raped, I was done. Nobody ever stands up or fights. It's continual dark, cowardly and beyond ignorant humans is enough. I only wish I had stopped sooner.
