Historia
In 2016, the morning after Valentine's Day, Luke's son passed away from breathing issues complicated by congenital birth defects. He was 21 months old. And his name was Finnegan. This kind of loss is terrifyingly huge and scary, but the love and light in this story far outweigh the tragedy. Through comic-book metaphors, Shakespeare references, and lilting Irish brogues, Luke tells the story of his too-short time with Finn. This is his tribute to storytelling, parenthood, and his rosy-cheeked, blue-eyed baby boy.

Unspoken - Beautiful, poignant, informative
Revisado: 09-13-20
While the plot of this book is sad, this is an extremely well written book. Everyone handles this type of situation and grieves differently. Luke chooses humor while at the same time displays his utter confusion and frustration at Finn's condition.
Such a shame that the proper diagnosis was not made until too late. With so many different doctors involved, with all the technology, and with all the information that is online it's hard to believe that Finn's diagnosis was not made sooner. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea for everyone with a "mystery" condition to be observed by medical students.
I lived (miraculously as it's a miracle I didn't die several times) through a similar situation; it took 2 1/2 years and at least 6 hospitalizations for me to be diagnosed with an autoimmune disease known as NSIP. As Luke found out and proved, you have to be your own or your child's own advocate.
Luke, you have my most heartfelt sympathy. I wish you the best.

Historia
In 1912, scientist Marie Curie spent two months on the British seaside at the home of Hertha Ayrton, an accomplished mathematician, inventor, and suffragette. At the time, Curie was in the throes of a scandal in France over her affair with Paul Langevin, which threatened to overshadow the accomplishment of her second Nobel Prize. Performed by Kate Mulgrew and Francesca Faridany at the Minetta Lane Theatre, this play by Lauren Gunderson is an ode to two remarkable women.

Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.

The only problem with reading a Greg Iles novel is it ENDS! Then I have to wait about another year for the next one. (Sigh) Such is life.

Historia
One of the most notorious crimes during the Civil Rights Movement was the murder of three civil rights workers in Philadelphia, Mississippi in June 1964. Occurring less than two weeks before the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed, the young volunteers were killed because they had come south to help register blacks to vote, a right they had been unfairly denied for over half a century thanks to Jim Crow. The shocking nature of the crimes galvanized people and helped bring about the kinds of changes the murderers sought to prevent.

I couldn't listen due to the narrator. Too fast paced. Sounded like a news cast. Disappointed because I am interested in the story, but I just cannot listen to this narration.
