Historia
Imagine a chimpanzee rampaging through a data center powering everything from Google to Facebook. Infrastructure engineers use a software version of this "chaos monkey" to test online services' robustness - their ability to survive random failure and correct mistakes before they actually occur. Tech entrepreneurs are society's chaos monkeys, disruptors testing and transforming every aspect of our lives from transportation (Uber) and lodging (AirBnB) to television (Netflix) and dating (Tinder).

Learn to be a jerk
Revisado: 08-06-18
This person exemplifies all the extreme negative stereo types of hot tech companies. Vigorously foul mouthed, insensitive, rude, sexist, demeaning and utter full of himself.
I wish I could get my money back.
This is a great example of how to be thankful you don’t work with people like this guy.

Nothing "goes viral". If you think a popular movie, song, or app came out of nowhere to become a word-of-mouth success in today's crowded media environment, you're missing the real story. Each blockbuster has a secret history - of power, influence, dark broadcasters, and passionate cults that turn some new products into cultural phenomena. In his groundbreaking investigation, Atlantic senior editor Derek Thompson uncovers the hidden psychology of why we like what we like.

Great workbook
Revisado: 03-21-18
Great book.
Maybe not perfect for the audible format.
References a digital item. I’ve never received.
Then the second half of the book is so information packed you really need to have a pen and notebook handy.
Not something that’s good for listening to while working out or commuting, etc.

Historia
No matter how old you are, there's a good chance that the word popular immediately transports you back to your teenage years. Most of us can easily recall the adolescent social cliques, the high school pecking order, and which of our peers stood out as the most or the least popular teens we knew. Even as adults we all still remember exactly where we stood in the high school social hierarchy, and the powerful emotions associated with our status persist decades later. This may be for good reason.

This is a great book. Kim is the kind of person I wish I could find as a mentor. I believe if more managers would follow some if the advice here people would love their jobs more.
I haven’t been a perfect manager, but now I know what are some of the qualities that have lead to my success. And what ones I will try to continue to grow and evolve in.

In business, the right behaviors matter. But getting it right is tricky. Even when we acknowledge the need to change what we do and how we do it, life has a habit of getting in the way, upsetting even the best-laid plans. And just how do we manage those situations that can provoke even the most rational among us into behaving in ways we would rather forget?

I hesitated on this book for a while. That was a mistake. There is a well developed method for change and self awareness. It's clearly not going to be easy to implement, and that's how I know it will be effective.
