delightful "who done it"! It was confusing at times and it was difficult at times to follow the logic. interestingvand lively characters. I was not at all impressed with the ending, which is why I dropped a star. I don't want to provide a spoiler alert, so I will just say "Really?"

disappointed
Revisado: 01-27-24
I'm very sorry that I wasted a credit on this book. He spent time exploring unimportant matters and skipped over areas I thought were of interest. I have read "If you tell" and expected more from this book. The ending? Did he give up or is he laying the groundwork for a sequel? That, I assure you, I won't seek out. it's a bit convoluted and confusing (might not have been had I read it rather than listening on audible). It took me a while to get the characters straight. He refers to Eli by first name and then last name throughout the book, and often delves so deeply into the family tree that you get stuck in it. Skip this one.

Great characters and concept. There were a few instances where the investigations ignored facts which I found annoying (as if the reader is believed to be ignorant) and the completely undeveloped story line between Jenna and Keith, but overall it kept me entertained. She did a good job keeping the who-done-it unpredictable. It's not deep or particularly gripping but if you are in the mood for some fun and quirkiness this is worth reading

Historia
When Marilyn Kleinman is caught making out with the rabbi’s son in front of the whole congregation, her parents ship her off to her great-aunt Ada for the summer. If anyone can save their daughter’s reputation, it’s Philadelphia’s strict premier matchmaker. Either that or Marilyn can kiss college goodbye. To Marilyn’s surprise, Ada’s not the humorless septuagenarian her mother described. Not with that platinum-blonde hair, Hermès scarf, and Cadillac convertible. She’s sharp, straight-talking, takes her job very seriously, and abides by her own rules…mostly.

I wish the story was longer! I'd like to know what happens next! I sense a sequel on the way and am looking forward to it with great pleasure. As always, Dean Koontz doesn't fail to entertain with his vivid imagination, spectacular metaphors and loveable characters.

A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Warm, funny, quirky, interesting and incredibly well written. I think, however, the book is more suitable for reading, rather than listening. The narrative performance was outstanding. It's just that I know I missed tiny details that would have delighted me further. I loved the characters!

I found this book suspenseful and thrilling. It's lack of emotion was odd but refreshing. it's not that the characters didn't care, but the story wasn't awash in it. I will be looking for more of her work.

Revisado: 04-13-23
I enjoyed the story and how it developed. I didn't find it extremely predictable, which is always a plus. Some of the reviews take offense to the DID aspect of the story. I didn't find it to have downplayed the condition or cast it in a bad light. it's a story, not a true crime novel. Although I didn't like some of the characters (who likes the villains!?), they were vivid and believable. SPOILER AKERT:I think the author should have subtley introduced the character connection earlier in the story. instead we were led to believe that all of Grey's memory lapses were due to intoxication. i'd recommend this book to others.

not what I had expected
Revisado: 01-01-23
I am a fan of Dean Koontz and have loved every book of his that I have read since I was first introduced to his work in 1979. This is the first book that disappointed me. Although I found each story line appealing and interesting, the excessive use of descriptive detail, simile and metaphor caused me to lose my way. Eventually, I stopped rewinding when I missed something because I knew it would not be important. It was like a soap opera in that you could skip several chapters and know exactly what was going on whenever you returned. This story could have been written in a dozen pages. With few exceptions, character development and the connection between characters does not exist. I found most of the characters boring. Nothing written touched me in any way. We never find out why the first two scenes were important. The ending was anticlimactic. I am confident that the next book will enthrall me, as usual. If this is your first read of his work, don't despair!
