Great long series
Revisado: 06-26-24
I love these kinds of long series that I can get into and invest the time to follow the characters. Sort of like game of thrones.

Historia
Nicknamed "Mini-Man" for his diminutive stature, a mere five-foot-three and 125 pounds in his flight boots, chopper pilot Ron Alexander proved to be a giant in the eyes of the men he rescued from the jungles and paddies of Vietnam. With an unswerving concern for every American soldier trapped by enemy fire, and a fearlessness that became legendary, Ron Alexander earned enough official praise to become the second most decorated helicopter pilot of the Vietnam era. Yet, for Ron, the real reward came from plucking his fellow soldiers from harm's way, giving them another chance to get home alive.

Outstanding story, valor, and vocal performance
Revisado: 06-06-24
I especially like the narrator who perfectly executed the “voice” of the logical almost mechanical view of flying mixed with his cool personality that the author seems to project into his experiences. I feel that I could connect with the experiences and that they were described in great detail but also somewhat pleasant in relative terms.

Historia
While the rain and mist of an early March moved over the valley, then-Sergeant First Class Bennie Adkins and 16 other Green Berets found themselves holed up in an undermanned and unfortified position at Camp A Shau, a small training and reconnaissance camp located right next to the infamous Ho Chi Minh Trail, North Vietnam's major supply route. And with the rain came the North Vietnamese Army in force. Filled with the sights, smells, and sounds of a battle fought in the middle of a tropical forest, A Tiger Among Us is a riveting tale of bravery, valor, skill, and resilience.

Humble perspective of a fierce battle
Revisado: 06-01-24
The story teller is a hero who worked hard to do his job even though there were signs of an impending battle. His camp needed fortifications and his fighters needed a moral boost. Despite this he executed his mission even though the higher command would not send the necessary reinforcements to hold the camp. The story is inspirational not only because of his heroic actions in the face of overwhelming odds but also for returning home and living a happy life with his wife Marry.

Most incredible story of survival
Revisado: 04-21-24
The 40 minute or so of Mike recounting his ordeal and being perfectly wounded while entering into the room and coming out alive truely kept me on the edge of my seat. That story is well told. I also think I learned something from hearing how he got where he was and figuring out how to move forward after that experience.

Revisado: 04-08-24
I had already read the book “Alone at dawn” and found that book really interesting and well done. This author has his own perspective on the Operation Anaconda and the Battle of Takur Ghar and other missions.

Historia
Southern Afghanistan was slipping away. That was clear to then-Captain Rusty Bradley as he began his third tour of duty there in 2006. The Taliban and their allies were infiltrating everywhere, poised to reclaim Kandahar Province, their strategically vital onetime capital. To stop them, the NATO coalition launched Operation Medusa, the largest offensive in its history. The battlefield was the Panjwayi Valley, a densely packed warren of walled compounds that doubled neatly as enemy bunkers.

Historia
In one of the most compelling combat narratives ever written, Staff Sergeant David Bellavia, an Army infantry platoon leader in Iraq, gives a teeth-rattling, first-hand account of 11 straight days of heavy house-to-house fighting during the climactic second battle of Fallujah. His actions in the firefight, which included killing five insurgents in hand-to-hand combat, earned Bellavia the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, and New York state's highest military honor, the Conspicuous Service Cross.

Historia
Chief Petty Officer James "Patches" Watson was there at the start. One of the first to come out of the famed Underwater Demolition Team 21, he was an initial member—a "plank owner"—of America's deadliest and most elite fighting force, the U.S. Navy SEALs. Through three tours in the jungle hell of Vietnam, he walked the point—staying alert to trip wires, booby traps, and punji pits, guiding his squad of amphibious fighters on missions of rescue, reconnaissance, and demolition—confronting a war's unique terrors head-on, unprotected . . . and unafraid.

Captivating stories of combat and training
Revisado: 03-18-24
The PoW training was real interesting and hearing a bit about the other trainings that are no longer practiced. It is crazy to think about some of that. The stories were also well written.
