Historia
On the day Stockholm police officer Hanna Ahlander’s personal and professional lives crash, she takes refuge at her sister’s lodge in the Swedish ski resort paradise of Åre. But it’s a brief comfort. The entire village is shaken by the sudden vanishing of a local teenage girl. Hanna can’t help but investigate, and while searching for the missing person, she lands a job with the local police department. There she joins forces with Detective Inspector Daniel Lindskog, who has been tasked with finding the girl. Their only lead: a scarf in the snow.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Terrible Audio, Promotes Pseudoscience
Revisado: 04-19-24
I think the author recorded this in her kitchen. It sounds like an early podcast, but also has voices and other noises in the background. It’s so bad. I’m shocked it’s on Audible.
That being said, this is a pretty decent overview of trauma, grief, depression, addiction, and anxiety. Nothing super in-depth, but good as an intro. The problem is that she recommends things like naturopathy and Chinese medicine. Maybe these things might have some aspects of value, but there are SO many ways that they are harmful that I find it extremely irresponsible to recommend. She also gives advice on avoiding GMO grains despite the fact that the GMO fear mongering has been thoroughly debunked.
That aside, her attempts to swear as much as possible at the start of the book was so cringe I almost didn’t get far. I made myself finish though. Thank God it was short.

Historia
For over fifteen years, researchers have described a crisis in our nations' early learning classrooms. Hundreds of children are expelled from childcare and preschool every day; a rate nearly three times that of kindergarten-twelfth grade students. Each child's expulsion is symptomatic of a larger crisis—an overburdened, underfunded, undervalued, and fragmented early education system. No Longer Welcome starts a critical conversation between and across sectors of the early childhood field.

Great Book. Questionable Reading
Revisado: 03-31-24
Important book for educators and parents of young children. The narrator read very slow, but speeding her up helped. It did not help the fact that she mispronounced many words, though. (For example: she pronounced “exacerbates” as “exasperbates.” Still worth a read.
