The narrator plays the Sontarans in the show, so his voices for them are naturally top-notch. The story itself strings along for a bit. The middle of the story doesn’t feature the Doctor at all, and he only hears about the events of this part later in the book. Strangely, though, this Doctor-less middle is the best part of the book, and could easily feature as its own un-related short story. Really, the Doctor’s role and the rest of the book just seem built around this action-packed bit, but he comes back in the 3rd act and the ending carries the momentum of the book to a satisfying conclusion. There are slow parts, but overall I’d give this book an 8/10.

Very good story. I think. I really got lost. Honestly, it sort of feels like Adams had too many ideas, so he just crammed them all into one overlong narrative. Pretty funny, though.

An excellent story for the Seventh Doctor, voiced beautifully by Sophie Aldred. While the story may be slow, the pace is kept up by eerie encounters with the Cybermen and two delightful side characters, both detectives. I feel the story promises to build up energy than it ultimately does, but the ending is climatic and satisfying. The cybermen share the role of antagonists with traditional Nazi soldiers and a wonderful twist villain, but are left enough room for a disturbing moment here or there that justifies their inclusion. The 7th Doctor, usually portrayed in his more manipulative stage, feels refreshingly less intense here, more akin to his season 25 portrayal. Ultimately, I wouldn’t want to sit down with this book, but the audio book form is far more comfortable to enjoy and perfect for this story. 7/10 for despicable villains and wonderful supporting cast.

Doctor Who: The Harvest of Time is an excellent story. The pacing is a bit iffy and the political message is very in-your-face in the epilogue, but neither of these even remotely harmed my enjoyment of the story.
Indeed, the only real negative I could give this story comes from a scene that basically says that the Master and the Doctor, as students, were tasked with imprisoning the most dangerous creatures and machines in creation. Way to go, Time Lords.
Not only does this retcon the biggest mystery in the whole of the show, but it glorifies the two as something they aren’t and makes the whole of the Time Lords look like idiots. So, basically, still better than that stupid “HeRE cOme THe DrUMs” thing in 2006.
In short, this story combines all elements loved in the Pertwee era, has perfect narration by Geoffrey Beevers and even finds time to rehash “Fury From the Deep”. The Harvest of Time is perfect for any fan of Doctor Who. 8/10 would recommend.

Once upon a time, there was a show called Doctor Who. It’s unique ability to canonically change the lead role’s actor allowed it to run for twenty years, the latter five under heavy fire from the BBC, which produced the show.
After it was put off air, fans turned to other formats for stories, such as books, audios, and even a TV movie in 1996. But before all of this, there was a man who wanted to continue the show himself. He started the company BBV and hired actors who held lead roles in the show to produce stories clearly tied to the show, but not enough for a lawsuit to be in order.
The show was put back on air in 2005, and the company Big Finish hired those actors for their admittedly much better audio stories, also found on this site. BBV collapsed.
This here, then, is 3 of those un-official stories, written and performed by veterans or future production members of the show. If you are a hardcore, lore invested Doctor Who fan like myself, I highly recommend this collection of spin-offs and what ifs. If you are not, this collection is DEFINITELY not a good idea, unless you are just curious.
The stories themselves are excellent in this case and the acting superb. 9/10

This series was a fantastic! Baker is at his top game, Whibsey has character development, the villains are fantastic, and Mike Yates is brilliant as ever!
Hornet’s Nest is a genuinely creepy romp through time and space. Loved every second, but the backwards-time travel thing made the endings predictable based on previous stories. 8/10
Demon’s Quest was a loosely tied rehash of Hornet’s Nest, but is deeply enjoyable to listen to. Accents and music were for the worse, however. 7/10
Serpent’s Crest was easily the best, from the land-of-fiction Aladdin story to the Second Doctor cameo. Cliffhangers were amazing and characters were lovable. Just wish it tied in with the last two a little neater. 9/10
In conclusion, this is definitely worth a buy and extremely enjoyable.

This book was really good. Most of the Time Lord Victorious series is hard to get into, since you have to read the two books first (also really great). However, I was surprised to find that this book is easy to read without context. All that you need to know is that the Doctor has travelled back to the Dark Times, an age before the Time Lords bent time to their will, and where everyone is immortal. The Katuru (might have spelled that wrong, but whatever) are judging species, giving them lifespans, some more… humane than others. The Doctor and his Ood assassin companion Brian have waged war on them. And boom. The story tells you the rest, without spoiling anything else. All in all, this story was a little rich and a little short. Maybe an extra ten minutes to the book wouldn’t hurt. 7/10 would recommend if you are a modern Doctor Who fan who likes weird concepts played upon.

It’s pretty decent, really. The first three were awesome, especially the Fortunes of War, giving Six a real moment of sadness and pain. The Scent of Blood plays really well on Eight’s gothic side, which is surprisingly rare to see in his stories. Thing From the Sea has a creepy monkey. Yeah, that’s all for that one. Creepy monkey. But Flight of the Sun God and heaven forbid Paradise Lost were so boring I wanted to rip my ears off with a Sonic Lance (yes, casual viewers, those DO exist). All in all pretty harmless, at worst it’s boring to tears, but at best it’s a deep rooted heart-reaching beautiful character work. I dunno, man, if you want it, go for it, but for now I’ll just stick with our lord and savior Big Finish (listen to Home Truths, also on Audible). As a whole - 5/10

So you know those episodes in series 2 or 8 that no one likes? Good ideas are turned into little more than goofy one-offs and scooby-doo chases down long hallways? Imagine that as a badly narrated book. Yeah. So, let’s just jump into it, the best stories are numbers 1, 2 and 9, all three of with are pretty good. The rest leave me begging for another Sil spin-off for something slightly less painful to do. Story 6 has no reason to exist… ever, 7 has a full three minutes of never ending fan gloss that serves nothing but to fill time, and every accent in the whole collection sounds faker than Tom Baker’s wax statue from 1983. Look, I know we all miss Capaldi. I personally believe that he was the best Doctor. But if you want to turn back the clock to avoid Jodie Whitaker (I can’t blame you), then just skip this one, mate. This collection’s not worth it. 3/10 for one or two good stories and Nicola Bryant’s bad accents (sorry, Peri).

Well, first of all, we all know that the actual Day of the Doctor was an easy 12/10, so instead let’s compare this book to the tv episode itself. The Doctor papers are the best parts, with Osgood’s amazing potential being spoiled be Moffat trying to ship her with every other character (including herself) before he just gave up once he realizes he was really bad at character work. Typical. And the Night of the Doctor was alright, with the Doctor being a bit to cheerful for such a pessimistic setting. He wrote the 8th Doctor like the 9th. Better on TV by far. But again, forgivable. Besides these rare moments, this book will throw brilliant idea after hilarious 4th wall break at you. It’s like leftover chocolate cake. I planned on spreading it out over a week. Burned through it in a day. The dungeon scene and Gallifrey Stands are easily the highlights of the book, and Clara and the War Doctor deserve a spin-off. And don’t get me started on the gripping and hilarious chaos of chapter 9… not that I can remember it (spoilers!). Even the 12th and 13th Doctor cameos feel earned (for once *cough* 13 *cough*). I love this episode, I love Moffat (usually), and I recommend this to anyone who loves a little timey-wimey. 9/10 would be 10 if you skip over Osgood’s parts (she deserved sooo much better than this).
