Historia
Having inspired a classic film and Broadway play, The Caine Mutiny is Herman Wouk's boldly dramatic, brilliantly entertaining novel of life—and mutiny—on a Navy warship in the Pacific theater. It was immediately embraced upon its original publication as one of the first serious works of American fiction to grapple with the moral complexities and the human consequences of the Second World War. In the intervening half century, this gripping story has become a perennial favorite, selling millions throughout the world, and claiming the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

Way too long.
Revisado: 01-25-20
I'm still not sure how the relationship with May ties in with the mutiny story or why we had to spend the first 3rd of the book hearing every minute detail of their courtship.
Also the hours of strawberries and what seemed like 11 hours of minutely demontrating how horrid Queeg was made me feel like I was being beaten to death with the point of it. This book might have been ok in 13 hours instead of 26.
I stuck it out to the bitter end because it was for a book club. Regretting my choice.

Revisado: 09-14-17
Would you try another book from Danielle LaPorte and/or Danielle LaPorte?
Probably not. I'm over the whole new age thing and have become far more skeptical as I get older. This is for the same reason I gave up on traditional religion. Most of it is made up explanations for things we really don't know the answers to. I'm okay with mystery until real evidence shows up. When she started talking about "soul contracts" that was it for me. I could not keep listening. I agree it's an interesting premise but doesn't hold up to any logical scrutiny. Not for me.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
A lot of eye rolling and exasperation. New Age to me is no different than other religions. It benefits those offering it's concepts in hopes of profiting monetarily.
Any additional comments?
She did give some good advice about trusting your own feelings no matter who is talking and I think I'll take that advice with her book.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
No. I would recommend the actual book instead.
Would you recommend The Obesity Code to your friends? Why or why not?
I would definitely recommend the book. Skip the audiobook.
What didn’t you like about Brian Nishii’s performance?
He mispronounced SO many words so often that It started to make me cringe. Plus I found he uses too emphatic and over dramatic emphasis.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
"Finally, some common sense about the obesity epidemic."
Any additional comments?
Dr. Jason Fung is fantastic. I've seen some of his talks on video and he is concise, knowledgeable and most importantly offers easy and logical solutions. Wish he had read his own book. I probably should have just purchased his book as I can't listen to the audiobook anymore. I hate to give negative feedback and his actual book deserves 5 stars.

Would you try another book from Jimmy Moore and Dr. Jason Fung and/or Jimmy Moore?
Yes.
Would you ever listen to anything by Jimmy Moore and Dr. Jason Fung again?
Dr Fung yes, Moore: no
How could the performance have been better?
If it had new material different than their website it would be worth while. It's just that I heard absolutely nothing new here.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Don't get me wrong. I greatly appreciate their work, it's just that I bought this hoping to get new info from what I've already heard from Dr. Fung's videos but it is exactly the same stuff rehashed by Jimmy Moore.
Any additional comments?
Disappointed in the book, not in Dr. Fung. He is brilliant. I encourage anyone who has not seen his videos to watch them or read his other book. Most of this is Jimmy Moore though and he's just repeating what Fung has already done.

Historia
Barney Panofsky - Canadian expat, wily lover of women, writer, television producer, raconteur - is finally putting pen to paper so he can rebut the charges about him made in his rival’s autobiography. Whether it’s ranting about his bohemian misadventures during the 1950s in Paris, his tumultuous three marriages, or his successful trashy TV company, Totally Unnecessary Productions, he quickly proves that his memory may be slipping, but his bile isn’t.

Narration ruins it.
Revisado: 02-26-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A narrator who actually has heard anyone from Montreal talk and pronounce French names.
Being a Montrealler myself, I winced each time he would try say any Quebec place name or person's name.It was very distracting.
Would you be willing to try another book from Mordecai Richler? Why or why not?
Yes, by a different narrator.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Graham Abbey?
Someone who knows Montreal and knows how it's Jewish community speaks.
Any additional comments?
I'm going to get the paper book version and read it.

Historia
Intuitive Eating is the go-to book on rebuilding a healthy body image and making peace with food. We’ve all been there—angry with ourselves for overeating, for our lack of willpower, for failing at yet another diet. But the problem isn’t us; it’s that dieting, with its strict rules, keeps us from listening to our bodies. Written by two prominent nutritionists, Intuitive Eating will teach you how to reject diet mentality forever; how our three eating "personalities" define our eating difficulties; how to find satisfaction in your eating; and much, much more.

What would have made Intuitive Eating better?
Different narrator and the 3rd edition rather than 2nd.

Disappointed. I discovered this is an older edition. Plus the narrators style is very irritating to me.

There are millions of stories in the city - some magical, some tragic, others terror-filled or triumphant. Jonah Kirk’s story is all of those things as he draws listeners into his life in the city as a young boy, introducing his indomitable grandfather, also a "piano man"; his single mother, a struggling singer; and the heroes, villains, and everyday saints and sinners who make up the fabric of the metropolis in which they live - and who will change the course of Jonah’s life forever. Welcome to The City, a place of evergreen dreams where enchantment and malice entwine.

Revisado: 11-01-14
What would have made The City better?
If it wasn't written.
What was most disappointing about Dean Koontz’s story?
This is my first Koontz book. (and last) The whole thing was so boring. It's one voice telling the entire story. Also The City as a character just didn't work for me.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Korey Jackson?
not sure.. maybe.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Frustration at wasting a credit.
Any additional comments?
This is my book club's choice for the month. I would not recommend it as a book club choice.

This is supposed to be funny?
Revisado: 05-07-12
What would have made The Finer Points of Sausage Dogs better?
Not sure anything could have made it better given the premise of accidentally amputating 3 legs from a little dog.
What do you think your next listen will be?
No idea but I will never again assume I will like any book from a favorite author.
Which scene was your favorite?
None. I didn't finish it.
What character would you cut from The Finer Points of Sausage Dogs?
All but the dog.
Any additional comments?
Who finds amputating 2 of a little dog's legs by mistake funny? I could not get into this story beyond that part. Even before that, the professor going along with the mistaken identity is just stupid.
I love much of McCall's work. Have read all the Ladies Detective series as well as the Philosopher's series but what the heck is going on with this?
I am so disappointed that I wasted an entire credit on this book.
