Historia
How did a libertine who lacks even the most basic knowledge of the Christian faith win 81 percent of the white evangelical vote in 2016? And why have white evangelicals become a presidential reprobate's staunchest supporters? Jesus and John Wayne is a sweeping account of the last 75 years of white evangelicalism, showing how American evangelicals have worked for decades to replace the Jesus of the Gospels with an idol of rugged masculinity and Christian nationalism.

Revisionist history
Revisado: 10-12-24
I made it all the way through the book waiting to find out a better way to fulfill the great commission. Never got it, seems like embracing abortion, homosexuality, celibate marriage, transgengerism and passivity will get us there. The misrepresentation of Kirk Cameron's Fireproof plot makes me question other conclusions. I quickly became uncomfortable with the way the author providing simple justification of action on complex issues. I guess patriarchy, racism and blood lust is really driving everything. The fact that some consider abortion to be a moral issue is not justifiable accordingtothis book.

Would be better as a PowerPoint
Revisado: 08-26-24
Major concepts interpreting apocalyptic text were helpful. Additional information in each section didn't add mire understanding, rather lulled into in attention. Political commentary distracted from the point of keeping Christ first, because the advice was self-contradictory and functionally unworkable for a citizen of the USA.

But you are not failing. You are awesome. Most Christian parenting books are ready with exact practices every family should follow in order to raise obedient children. In this obedience-training model, faith is a wall, constructed brick by brick, as adults tell children what to believe and how to behave. But what if obedience is not the goal of Christian parenting? What if it’s our job as parents to instead help our kids get to know God and discover that God can be trusted? Woven can help children anchor to who God is and have faith practices that are rich, textured, and all their own.

Worth thinking about sooner rather than later
Revisado: 05-31-24
This was a good book, one I'll recommend to friends. The concepts were stretching, in the best of ways. It's a little tough as an older person to adapt to some of the ideas, I wish I had read this in my twenties. The Voice Talent did an excellent job, with inflections and emotion in all the right places. The editing left a bit to desired, as there were several sections that repeated themselves. this happened frequently enough that I started to wonder if the repeats were on purpose, but they weren't generally lines that you would expect to been repeated.

Historia
For decades environmentalists have told us that using fossil fuels is a self-destructive addiction that will destroy our planet. Yet by every measure of human well-being, from life expectancy to clean water to climate safety, life has been getting better and better. How can this be? The explanation is that we usually hear only one side of the story. We're taught to think only of the negatives of fossil fuels, their risks and side effects, but not their positives.

I'm grateful to see facts and logic carefully applied to this area of life where so many have played fast and loose with facts and logic to try to achieve their desired ends. Reading this book makes me wonder why so many green activists and politicians want people to die.

Historia
When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, college football was at the height of its popularity. As the nation geared up for total war, one branch of the service dominated the aspirations of college football stars: the United States Marine Corps. Which is why, on Christmas Eve of 1944, when the 4th and 29th Marine regiments found themselves in the middle of the Pacific Ocean training for what would be the bloodiest battle of the war – the invasion of Okinawa—their ranks included one of the greatest pools of football talent ever assembled.

Fascinating and we'll researched
Revisado: 12-22-22
If you believe there are no new stories about WW2, then this is a must read. I was hoping for more specifics about the game itself, I would think an impossibly due to the details presented in other areas. Repeated emotions of sadness and gratitude for the Marines and their families hit me throughout the book. There was more profanity than I would prefer in this book, not sure if that's just Bissinger or the Marines. My desire for less profanity shows my lack of understanding and experience with both.

The last thing the White House can afford is a new war in the Mideast that could derail the treaty and set the region ablaze. U.S. and Israeli forces are mobilizing to find the hostages and get them home, but Ryker knows the clock is ticking.

Historia
A recent survey of CEOs revealed that creativity is considered the most important quality in leadership. Who Killed Creativity? investigates how companies, leaders, managers, and individuals can build (or rebuild) a culture of innovation by fostering creative thinking and problem-solving - finding better solutions faster. By exploring such questions as: Are bully bosses psychopaths in disguise? and Why does the future of civilization lie in a garbage dump in Mexico?, this book offers a compelling tale with a novel twist.

I was expecting a full on novel based on the trailer and reviews. This is a fair academic text, a very interesting one. The authors use their own experiences and world events to illustrate their points. I trust their insight and am glad I read it.
