This was Butcher’s first Harry Dresden novel and it laid out the basis for all that follows.

This was a dictionary of beast. There was no story or performance. As a reproduction of a student’s book it was acceptable.

The Chamber is the transitional book bringing Harry out of the children book realm and clearly into the young adult genre.

This is Charlaine Harris in her prime. Always a story pushing forward to the end.

Nate Temple is up to neck, and handling all

Nate is resolving several storylines in this book as new ones are created. One plot twist near the end comes out of the blue, one is hinted at mid way through the book if you can pick up on it, and the other plot twist is just sitting there throughout the book but clever writing misdirects the reader until the final reveal. Shayne Silvers is a bit formulaic but but remains interesting with creative storylines and twists. I do wish somebody else read these stories for Audible. This guy is adequate but is very dry.
