Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Utterly Racist Garbage
Revisado: 03-21-24
This is perhaps one of the most racist diatribes ever put to paper since Mein Kampf. Replacing the word “White” with “Jews” would yield essentially the same book as that written by the former German dictator. The attempt of the author and the introductory statement to pin *perceived* crimes on an entire race as a group, and the premise of convincing that race to view itself as guilty and lesser than other races relegates this book to the toilet paper bin alongside similar such rants as those which created Eugenics or professed racism in the early 1930s.
In short: this book is a manual of hate filled with utterly racist trash, and those who profess and support it, BLM, ANTIFA, and the “1619 Project” are equally racist trash that deserve to live in the world of hate and segregation that the attempt to proclaim against their white audience.

Stunningly well written and heartbreaking!
Revisado: 08-18-23
This book has no equal in it’s pathos, ethos, and beautiful writing. Regardless of which side of this great conflict one prefers, this story gives them all honor and deference to the sacrifice of thousands for the freedom of man, or the hope of a new country. Well done!

Enrique “Quique” Luna has one goal this summer—get over his crush on Saleem Kanazi by pursuing his other romantic prospects. Never mind that he’s only out to his best friend, Fabiola. Never mind that he has absolutely zero game. And definitely forget the fact that good and kind and, not to mention, beautiful Saleem is leaving LA for the summer to meet a girl his parents are trying to set him up with. Luckily, Quique’s prospects are each intriguing in their own ways.

Great Performance; Strange Obsession with White People
Revisado: 02-21-23
This is a (mostly) beautifully written coming of age story of a young boy who tries to explore his feelings, both physically and emotionally, while learning to cope with his feelings towards his handsome male best friend. Together with his female best friend, Enrique must overcome his self-doubt to find his way to a happy life.
The story is wonderful with the jarring exception that the author cannot get over his evidently personal hatred of White people, which spews through the words of his characters throughout even though there is nothing in the story to cause each instance. Any time a White person is mentioned, it is in the context of them being either racist, not having ever had any personal issues to tackle, or being “well intentioned”….but ignorant.
Chapter 14, in particular, is one gigantic anti-white racist rant through the voice of a teenaged “Palestinian” who acts as if he is surprised that he can’t find Palestine on a map (even though that country has never existed as an independent country in the entire history of man).
The above is assuaged by the excellent voice acting of the performer, and the author’s obvious racism can be safely ignored and tolerated if one skips Chapter 14 and its historically inaccurate and vitriolic diatribe.

My plan was perfect: convince my best friend and school quarterback, Ethan, to be the final prize for my matchmaking test where the proceeds go to sending the band to Paris. Plus, if it matches me with my lifelong crush, that's a bonus, right? What could go wrong? Apparently, a lot. First, the test matches me and Ethan. Which is easy to explain. Computers make mistakes all the time, right? Second, the girl I switch myself for seems perfect for Ethan. Maybe a bit too perfect. Third, my date with my crush goes horribly wrong, and my first kiss tanks.

Wonderful story and timeless romance!

This was a great story which kept me listening during my daily drives to work. It definitely reminded me of my high school years, with relatable characters played by a wonderful voice actress. I can’t wait to listen to more books by Anne-Marie Meyer :D

Wonderful, tho Political.
Revisado: 09-23-22
This book was wonderful in most respects, with the two lovebirds being believable in their actions and how they are played. Andrew and Jameson are a heartwarming pair who overcome both personal and environmental trials in order to find out who they are within and find love along the way. Henri is also a wonderful character, and the likening of her to a character from the Golden Girls made her a real treat to read about and imagine.
Unfortunately, the author could not keep his political beliefs out of the writing and it often devolves into an anti-Right political diatribe whenever a villain or any difficulty is found, with all of the major evil characters having stereotyped conservative backgrounds or beliefs, while all of the good guys and surviving civilizations only exist due to their leftist beliefs. There is little to no attempt at neutrality in this regard, which becomes a real turnoff and a jolt out of the overall story for any reader who may not share similar beliefs.

Alternate History Writer’s Guilt
Revisado: 02-14-22
Although the writing and prose was just as wonderful as the first two novels, the storyline of this novel struck me as utterly fantastical and ridiculous. The writers clearly suffered some form of writer’s guilt where, having made a scenario in which the South comes perilously close to winning, the North was instead made the victor instead. This was supported by completely implausible events such as the sudden use of armoured railroad artillery in the offensive form, the complete sabotage of railroad lines due to ‘patriotism,’ an omnipotent character in the form of Grant, ridiculous escapades by Custer, and of course, the 3rd resurrection of the Army of the Potomac. The unlikely and unprecedented battle of military forces to nearly the last man on both sides, combined with Lee waiting or pulling himself back into a trap while knowing it was a trap, is utterly absurd. The use of canal boats to sail up and down a canal ignores the requirement for supply and stores and assumes there was enough boats in DC to accommodate. Finally, the overall picture, where the Western Theater remains virtually unchanged despite the removal of an Army from the field and the earlier assertion that ‘they were placed in the defensive’ is, again, absurd. The civil war ending two years early as a result of multiple complete victories by the Confederate Army simply because the will and love of the Northern people for the Union, is nothing short of Patriotic Propaganda. Sorry but this was painful to listen to and I only completed it in order to determine how the North somehow won after multiple catastrophic defeats. The answer was simple: fairytale magic.
