Historia
With this first book in Russell Brand’s Trickster Tales series, the famed comedian, actor, and best-selling author delivers a hilarious retelling of an old fairytale favorite that will appeal to adults and children alike. Maybe you’ve heard about the Pied Piper before, with his strange music and those pompous townspeople and pesky rats. Or maybe you haven’t. But one thing is for sure: you’ve never heard it quite like this.

Historia
Neal Stephenson is a blazing new force on the sci-fi scene. With the groundbreaking cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, he has "vaulted onto the literary stage." It weaves virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility - in short, it is the gigathriller of the information age.

Even better than when I first read it!
Revisado: 05-25-20
I first read Snow Crash soon after it came out, my introduction to Neal Stephenson. I reread it every few years. You'll see a lot of reviews dissing this story for its "dated" '80s references and "misuse" of the word "hacker," among other "failings," including Stephenson's trademark infodump section in the middle. Do yourself a favor and ignore the naysayers. The story is brilliant and hilarious. And it's great satire. Cartoonish? Sure. What's wrong with a great cartoon! You can debate the validity of the historical and religious references all day. But they're brilliant plot devices. The prose is as hip and cool as anything out there. The pacing and the humor are relentless, especially the first few chapters. Once it settles down into the back story and plot, it's thought provoking if you open your mind. And here's the real revelation of this audio book version: narrator Jonathan Davis is stellar! He handles multiple accents easily and humorously, flipping between wiseguy Italian-American, Chinese accented English, Aleut native and teenage skater girl with style. He accents the humor, the action and the coolness effortlessly. This is easily the best narration I have heard. If you like SciFi and you don't take yourself too seriously, just go ahead and buy this book. You're likely to find yourself laughing out loud more often than you can remember! It's like William Gibson meets The Simpsons!
