Historia
Twenty-five years after the end of the war, Noah Ainsworth is still preoccupied with those perilous, exhilarating years as a British SOE operative in France. A head injury sustained on his final operation has caused frustrating gaps in his memory—in particular about the agent who saved his life during that mission gone wrong, whose real name he never knew, nor whether she even survived the war.

The end is near.
Revisado: 10-04-23
I don’t even know where to start. Some of the best NPCs came back for this, including Deadbeat Dick and his wife Diane. I don’t know which fowl was more foul.
Loved Mo and JR’s introspection and even Finnion had a moment of unusual deepness.

Historia
Broke, almost homeless, and recently fired. Those are my official reasons for answering a wanted ad for a skeevy-looking bartender gig. It went downhill the moment they asked me to do a trial shift instead of an interview - to see if I'd mesh with their "special" clientele. I think that part went great. Their customers were complete dickheads, and I was an asshole right back. That's the definition of fitting in, right? I expected to get thrown out on my ass. Instead, they...offered me the job?

Immediately downloaded book 2
Revisado: 06-23-23
Fun book with excellent narration!
Tori cannot keep down a job. She doesn’t take shit from anyone and she’s got a temper to match the hair. After getting fired (well-written and hilarious), she finds herself slapped in the face with the next job opportunity. Literally. A trial run as a barkeeper for the Crow and Hammer introduces an eclectic cast of characters and thrusts Tori into a world of magic and danger.
I probably would have quit her job, but I have to admire Tori’s spunk, grit and determination to make things work. She’s a fan of always rescuing herself, and needs to work on letting others in. There was a lot of action, some good fight scenes, great dialogue, characters I want to meet, and what might become romance???? I had to immediately download book 2 on audible after finishing this one, so if that’s not a good recommendation, I don’t know what is.

Historia
Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky. In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low. And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war. Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages—not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color.

So good!
Revisado: 04-17-23
Narrator was excellent and brought the characters to life!
Loved the story of the chimera who raised the human girl Karou. There are two overlapping worlds connected by Brimstone’s portals, and Karou walks between them. But there’s things she doesn’t know about the world she lives in, and everything she loves is in danger.
What a twisting ride of a story. It was full of adventure and drama, secrets, danger, and eventually truths. I can’t believe I had this book on my audible playlist for YEARS before listening to it. Don’t make that mistake- listen to it sooner!

Voluntary review
Revisado: 10-26-20
I received a promo code for this book from the narrator. I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really liked this story that was reminiscent of Harry Potter - a girl kept in a room, mistreated by her family, unable to control her magic... and the narrator did a good job portraying the different characters. Nice YA book with a twist.
I enjoyed reading this book but probably will not continue with the series.

Interesting premise but falls short
Revisado: 12-23-19
I received a free review copy of this (audiobook) and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I like the premise of this. A couple with issues is sent back to the 1800s, to either reconnect with each other or be open to love in the past.
But the main character Reese is terrible. She’s so negative all the time. “Well that’s not how we do it where I’m from.” She’s very judgmental and doesn’t even TRY to fit in or enjoy herself with being in a different time. And the main guy, Jem? Total pushover. I never really felt their connections.
The other 3 people who traveled back in time with them, including Jem’s sister, were mentioned briefly. I’m guessing they’re the leads in other books?
Narrator was excellent though and probably the only reason I finished this book.

Everything has always come easily to Caleb James. Everything, that is, but Mary Walker. Her stunning beauty and independent nature enticed him from the start and yet, every romantic overture he made went so horribly awry that she can now barely tolerate him. But that’s all about to change. He has the perfect plan to redeem himself. When she arrives at his family estate, he’ll finally be able to win her heart.

Worth a read/listen
Revisado: 12-10-19
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review
Out of the three Pathways to Romance books, this one is by far my favorite. It was more Pride and Prejudice-esque, and the characters were likable this time around. Because this is novella-length, it was hard to understand exactly WHY Mary hated Caleb so much, especially as he was never anything but nice. I was glad to see her change and redeem herself by the end of it. The “villain” of the story never helped or hurt the plot, not really sure why he was in there.

Fake Marriage story
Revisado: 12-05-19
I received a review copy of this for free and am voluntarily leaving a review.
If you like fake marriage/marriage of convenience stories, you’ll probably enjoy this one. She’s smart. He’s rich - and NICE! But they’re both keeping secrets. Can they move past that to find a real love? Better read it to find out.
The narrator for this audiobook did a great job. Only thing that kind of irked me was that some of the characters were supposed to have slight British accents and that wasn’t done. However; I’d rather have there be no accents than have them be horribly done.
