Historia
Leigh grew up in Rotterdam, drawn to the waterfront as an escape from her unhappy home life and volatile father. Enchanted by the undersea world of her childhood, she excels in marine biology, travelling the globe to study ancient organisms. When a trench is discovered in the Atlantic ocean, Leigh joins the exploration team, hoping to find evidence of the earth's first life forms—what she instead finds calls into question everything we know about our own beginnings.

Ok, this got the Booker Prize.i figured it must be good. i have a masters degree but i was often cconfused. The author is a wonderful wordsmith. but it would have been twice as good if it had been half as long. There were some moments of awe and wonder. Those were good moments. But the ending was very confusing. It left me confused about how the characters got there and exactly where and when they were! And the two characters that were the main focus of the last section was.jarring. I was disappointed.

Historia
The Ministry for the Future is a masterpiece of the imagination, using fictional eyewitness accounts to tell the story of how climate change will affect us all. Its setting is not a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, but a future that is almost upon us - and in which we might just overcome the extraordinary challenges we face.

Great ideas, uneven narration
- De depthpsychologist en 12-09-20
interesting but longer than necessary
Revisado: 11-22-22
the reader/actors were great. the most intetesting parts were the concepts on how humankind could begin to turn ourselves around as the climate crisis develops. But some sublots were unnecessary to tbe main story.

Historia
England in the 1520s is a heartbeat from disaster. If the king dies without a male heir, the country could be destroyed by civil war. Henry VIII wants to annul his marriage of 20 years and marry Anne Boleyn. The pope and most of Europe opposes him. Into this impasse steps Thomas Cromwell: a wholly original man, a charmer and a bully, both idealist and opportunist, astute in reading people, and implacable in his ambition. But Henry is volatile: one day tender, one day murderous. Cromwell helps him break the opposition, but what will be the price of his triumph?

Heard about this book on NPR's Fresh Air after the author died. was not diappointed. My view of Cromwell has always been shaped by A Man For All Seasons. i have a new appreciation for Cromwell now.

an original and brilliant post apocalyptic story
Revisado: 06-26-22
Wow, this was an amazing story. It was well told and the author turns some wonderful phrases. Great twists that were unexpected. Not as long as I would have hoped, but I think its perfect as it is. Best novel I have read in awhile.

Historia
Harry August is on his deathbed. Again. No matter what he does or the decisions he makes, when death comes, Harry always returns to where he began, a child with all the knowledge of a life he has already lived a dozen times before. Nothing ever changes. Until now. As Harry nears the end of his 11th life, a little girl appears at his bedside. "I nearly missed you, Doctor August", she says. "I need to send a message". This is the story of what Harry does next, and what he did before, and how he tries to save a past he cannot change and a future he cannot allow.
