Historia
In 2009, Rachael Cerrotti, a college student pursuing a career in photojournalism, asked her grandmother, Hana, if she could record her story. Rachael knew that her grandmother was a Holocaust survivor and the only one in her family alive at the end of the war. Hana spoke about her history publicly and regularly. But Rachael wanted to document it as only a granddaughter could. So, that’s what they did: Hana talked, and Rachael wrote. Upon Hana’s passing in 2010, Rachael discovered an incredible archive of her life.

Remarkable story of walking in an ancestors footsteps. Even though my ancestors were not holocaust survivors they were in their own right survivors of their times and I would love to walk in their footsteps. Excellent book!!!

Historia
Unstoppable is the ultimate immigrant story and an epic David-and-Goliath adventure. While American teens were socializing in ice cream parlors, Siggi was suffering beatings by Nazi hoodlums for being a Jew and was soon deported along with his family to the darkest place the world has ever known: Auschwitz. Siggi used his wits to stay alive, pretending to have trade skills the Nazis could exploit to run the camp. After two death marches and near starvation, he was liberated from camp Mauthausen and went to work for the US Army hunting Nazis.

Sad

This has got to be the worst memoir I have read and I have a large collection of Holocaust stories. It was a decent story till it got to the part where he started becoming successful. The fact that he would "roll up" his sleeve to show his camp number to get what he wanted was something I had not heard any of the other survivors do. I became increasingly offended as he spoke of the way he treated and spoke to people but I stopped reading when he made the comment that his ivy league educated children will only marry who he approves of and they better be Jewish because people should stay with their own kind!! Isn't that what the Nazis believed as well? I am sorry I spent the money.

Historia
A pair of silver Regency candlesticks. Pieces of well-worn family jewelry. More than a thousand documents, letters, and photographs. Lotte Meyerhoff's best friends risked their lives in Nazi Germany to safeguard these and other treasured heirlooms and mementos from her family and return them to her after the war. The Holocaust had left Lotte the lone survivor of her family, and these precious objects gave her back a crucial piece of her past. Four Girls from Berlin vividly recreates that past and tells the story of Lotte and her courageous non-Jewish friends.

Of all the memoirs I have read, this is at the top of the list. Narration was excellent, writing was brilliant and thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. Highly recommend.
