Not uplifting
Revisado: 01-04-18
I found this book to be extremely depressing. I actually had to stop listening because it was doing more harm than good. I would suggest all the books by Jacques Philippe who has a much more rich and balanced approach to spiritual well-being. Start with Searching for and Maintaining Peace. I also did not like the narrator.

Superior Audiobook!
Revisado: 06-26-09
Don't let anyone dissuade you from purchasing this book based on the fact that it has a lot of information to absorb. Of course it does, isn't that what we are paying for? I have read at least 4 books on wine from the Dummy series to the more complex resources, and I must say that this audiobook can hold its own next to them all. If you are finding that there is too much to remember, read a few books about wine before you listen. I like to take this along with me on my dog walks. It is brilliantly read and wildly entertaining. This book is a wonderful resource for those who would like to learn about wine as well as those who know a fair amount and just want a relaxing review. Nice job, Julian Curry!!

Too much enthusiasm
Revisado: 07-07-07
This book has okay. The narration was the big turn off for me. I could not get through the entire book because of that problem. The ideas were good ones, but nothing really life-changing.

Historia
Hardy's work challenged sexual and religious conventions in a way that few other authors of the time dared. Though his modesty and kindness allowed some to underestimate him, or even to pity him, they did not prevent him from taking on the central themes of human experience: time, memory, loss, love, fear, grief, anger, death. This engrossing biography identifies the inner demons and the outer mores that drove Hardy and presents a complex portrait of one of the greatest figures in English literature.

Hardy Fan
Revisado: 07-07-07
I have been a fan of Thomas Hardy for many years. This book did a remarkable job of telling an intimate story of his private life and work. I have a new-found respect for the author. All Hardy fans would benefit from listening to this comprehensive biography. I might have enjoyed it more read by a different narrator. That's the reason for the 4 stars.

Profound and enlightening
Revisado: 06-16-07
Eckhart has a voice that is pure heaven to listen to. His message will bring peace to anyone, no matter what your circumstances. Since I have listened to numerous recordings of his work, I would recommend The Findhorn Retreat, Stillness Speaks, Living a Life of Inner Peace before this one. I found this one exceptional of course, but very heavy in concept. A new listener needs something much shorter so they can aquire the peace necessary before Now.

Profound yet simple in its concepts
Revisado: 06-16-07
The teachings presented in all of Eckhart's work are life changing. I have been known to be one of the biggest skeptics on the planet, and never thought anyone had an original idea when it comes to spirituality. I stand corrected now. I can only hope in some way, many will be drawn to and can learn this profound way of viewing the world.

Inspiring in its simplicity
Revisado: 06-03-07
Echart Tolle came into my life purely by accident when I ordered a Netflix Video series called The Flowering of the Human Conscience by Eckhart Tolle whom I had never heard of. I was expecting something very different. I am beginning to wonder if there was some other force working to help put me on the right track, because I would not have had any reason to rent this DVD disc series. I had only been renting workout videos for the past several weeks. When I stuck it in the DVD player, I saw a simple looking man stepped onto the stage and started talking. My first thought was, oh lord, what the heck did I get myself into here, but after 5 minutes I was captivated, and was blown away by the simple yet powerful message. I was not looking for spiritual direction, but got it non-the-less and in a very enlightening way. I have to date purchased 4 of his audio books, and my life has been changed forever in a gloriously calming way. I am eternally grateful for this chance meeting with Mr. Tolle, and his life-changing message about the meaning of life.
