Love this series....

Love this series. Love Rebekah Weatherspoon. I really hope she continues translating more of her books into audiobook format.

Loved It

I really loved this book. The romance was sweet and developed in a way that felt real, the sex scenes were hot and really conveyed intimacy between the MCs and it was all narrated masterfully by Lori Prince. I'll definitely be picking up more books by both the author and narrator.

Now I get to wait all over again...

Having finished this entire book the day of its release, I find myself elated and disappointed all at the same time; elated because it was a solid addition to one of my favourite series and disappointed because now I have to wait all over again for the next book!
I will say that there were some plot points that I felt could have been resolved a bit more completely and more answers given, but without spoiling anything, I think the big bad in this story is bigger and badder than we see in this installment and more opportunities will come to fill in the blanks...
So overall, I give this book full marks and prepare to bite my nails until Patricia Briggs releases the next masterpiece :)

Juvenile

Where to start? Firstly, the story is told from the point of view of a new adult (18?) but the perspective is so juvenile that at times felt icky as though it were a story about a mature woman and a child :/
That wasn't the only thing to make me cringe though... there's ageism, fat-shaming, creepy manipulation, and all kinds of ignorant comments sprinkled in to boot. That's before you get to literary gems such as comparing oral sex to a vacuum cleaner and jiggling boobies like jello. At times, it felt like the story was written by a pre-pubescent boy...

Repeats and a straight up story of rape..

Firstly, the majority of these stories are just repeats from other collections.... so I skip ahead and I finally came across a new story that I hadn't heard before and stopped to listen (Chapter 35 before I found a new story). Mistake. The story is rape. Period. Not even a grey-area type of situation. A supposed friend of a girl meets her after a long time apart. He brings his buddies, and he remains sober while he gets her drunk them promises to be the DD and get her a hotel room so she'll be safe. They then get her even drunker, tie her up, hit and punch her on the face, and then describe how much pain she's in as they rape her. Descriptions of blood, terrible pain etc. in the middle of an erotica collection was not something I was prepared for.
So I'm not only returning this book, I'm going to take it up with Audible and the publisher...

Paris Rivera at her best..

I have yet to find a Paris Riviera story that I don't like. This one is up there with my favourites. The narrator did a great job and overall, I'm giving this one a 5- star rating across the board.

Beyond tone-deaf...

I preface this by saying that I own nearly every Reed James book available on Audible and usually find them to be fun and hot.
That said, this book is not only tone-deaf, it's mean-spirited and made me cringe too many times to count.
Spoiler (I guess... since RJ books are pretty simple and repetitive in plot..)
You've got a lesbian cop who isn't taken seriously as a professional until she literally gets a dick that she can literally wave in people's faces. She then proceeds to use said dick as a weapon; at one point pulling over a black woman and dragging her out of her car by her hair and rubbing said dick all over her while telling her how much she wants it. It only gets worse from there, really.
There's plenty of room to play with power dynamics in a police story, but this one goes straight to sexual assault/ rape and tries to pretend it's hot.

Terrible Accents, Chunks of Missing Plot...

I usually love Nell Stark's Princess Series but this one was a doozy for me. The story was alright but it felt like huge chunks of the action were just glossed over. By the end, I still didn't have a clear picture of the event that was THE central plot point kicking off the story and another half-dozen unanswered questions to boot.
I also had a big problem with a particular sex scene. Without giving away spoilers, there was a scene that made a point multiple times of clarifying that it was consentual but was at best emotional blackmail IMO. As a plot point, I understand is place, but in the aftermath, it wasn't addressed between the charcters as problematic; in fact, it was written off as a sub/dom thing. ..
Finally, the narration. I've heard quite a few books narrated by NVV and quite enjoyed them, but this one was actually difficult to listen to without cringing. There were a variety of accents; the main two being Belgian and New Jersey... both of which were plain awful.
As I said, I usually really like this series and NVV as a narrator but this one missed the mark on almost every level for me :/

Paris Rivera Really Ups The Game In LesErotica!

I've always thoroughly enjoyed Paris Rivera's work and this book is no exception. Paris really ups the game in a genre not really know for its quality of writing, storyline and diversity of characters.
This book features a teacher/student pairing that sizzles right from the start and had me squirming in my seat long before the characters ever touched! I can't wait to read the next installment in the series :)

Couldn't finish it in audio. . going back to print

I tried. . I really tried to listen to this book all the way through. . but I just couldn't do it. That's no reflection on the story itself (I'm going to buy it for my kindle instead) but I can't emphasize how much I disliked the narrator. Simply awful.
