Historia
Miss Camilla Pierpont, a renowned matchmaker and influential member of the New York Four Hundred, has vowed never to marry after suffering a devastating heartbreak during her debut years ago. However, when she is nearly abducted along the Hudson River, she finds herself rescued by an annoyingly outspoken, albeit fascinating, gentleman who challenges her in a manner she wasn't expecting.

Revisado: 02-25-25
I think Jen Turano is my favorite author. The dialogue is witty and moves quickly and there’s always a little bit of intrigue and mystery. There are always unique characters and the men and the women shine just as brightly, not at the expense of one another. The narrator does an excellent job with the voices and makes it pure joy and escape to listen to.

Historia
Left with an estate on the brink of bankruptcy after their father's death, Lady Marigold Fairfax and her brother open a private investigation firm marketed to the elite . . . to spy on the elite. Dubbed The Imposters, Ltd., their anonymous group soon becomes the go-to for the crème of society when they want answers delivered surreptitiously. But the many secrets Marigold learns about her peers pale in comparison to her shock when she and her brother are hired to investigate her best friend's father as a potential traitor.

The narrator did a great job. And though I had my suspicions at the end, I was still surprised. You don’t know more than the characters do so you are trying to piece it together just as they are. I liked the premise of the story, it was a pleasant change.

Historia
Facing boredom after his long-postponed knee surgery, Jack volunteers at Fitz Morton Manor to serve as steward, chatting with visitors about the long history of the house. And when the retired volunteer Cyril Roebuck is found dead in the Great Hall, one morning, it seems at first that the dear old man must have suffered a heart attack. But the room was locked from the inside - and it quickly becomes clear that Cyril could not have bolted it. Soon Jack and Sarah are confronting the odd mystery of the locked room... and what must be - in fact - a case of foul play.

The stories unfold for the reader just as they do for Jack and Sarah. There aren’t surprise facts that only our two sleuths know. I love being part of the mystery, trying to put things together before Jack and Sarah. Also, the narrator does a superb job with the voices and atmosphere.

I love how the plot unfolds, with all its twists and turns. I especially love the banter between the two main characters. This banter is made even more enjoyable because of the excellent performance by the narrator. I would recommend this to anyone.

Jen Turano’s
books are always such a delight to read. I enjoy the witty banter between the characters, the character development and growth throughout the book, and the fact that the hero and heroine are both strong characters in their own right. Plus there is always added twists and turns and mystery thrown in to make it even more interesting. Please keep writing, Jen!

Strong women with witty and fun dialogue! I love these books and look forward to each one. They are such a welcome escape and the narrator does such a good job with the different voices; she truly paints vivid pictures of the characters. I also love the characters in the community where these women live. These books are truly gems in my library.

One of the best!
Revisado: 08-19-20
I have read all the books in the series and they always make me laugh! There’s usually just the right balance of seriousness, intrigue, and humor, usually from Gertie. I really enjoyed this one, I think it’s one of my favorites. I like that the women are strong characters as are the good guys. And the camaraderie and unusual friendship of the two older ladies with Fortune really works.

I really look forward to listening to Mary Connealy‘s books. They are a good mix of clean romance, a little suspense, and characters that you look forward to checking in with. The women are strong but so are the men. And it’s good to see the characters change and grow.

Good story but “I said” too much.
Revisado: 01-24-19
This story was good and I didn’t figure out the bad guy until the end. The narrators voice was very slow but I up to speed to 1 1/2 and it sounded closer to normal and didn’t grate on me. No regrets, I liked the story. It did seem like the other author wrote “I said “or “she said “an awful lot. There has to be other ways to transition speakers.
