One of the best zombie series I've read

Great series. The plague actually seemed plausible and was obviously well thought out. Although I originally bought the first two together I hesitated to buy the third based on the reviews even though it was on sale. After finishing the second I immediately purchased Survivors. Unlike others, I really liked Survivors and appreciated the closure it provided. Maybe it was due to the same narrator being used but I felt the transition between authors went smoothly. The narrator by the way was FANTASTIC!

The Best retelling of Alice I've ever read.

Not so much a retelling as a explanation of what really happened. The story of Wonderland as told by Carroll was much gentler than the reality, as Alyssa, Alice's descendent realizes.

Alice's return from Wonderland brought back a curse on her female descendents, making them hear voices from flowers and insects ultimately driving them mad. Alyssa, who's mother resides in a mental facility, was also afflicted. After overhearing her mom's conversation with a grasshopper and being controlled by some unforseen force, she sets out to find the answers before she herself goes mad.

This is a must read for Alice in Wonderland fans. For those of you who despise love triangles be forwarned there is a bit of love triangle action. However it does resolve itself before the end of the novel so no big "who will she choose" cliffhangers here.

Awful Narrator, couldn't bear to listen

The narrator talked like a fourteen year old. My sister and mother raved about this ya book so I really tried to give it a chance but after about thirty minutes I couldn't take anymore. Afterwards I borrowed their hard copy and really enjoyed the story. Since I spent most of the beginning cringing I reread the entire book and found that the narrator had completely confused the emotions in the book, acting frivolous and carefree in sections that were meant to be serious and somber. I recommend listening to the sample before purchasing.

I really enjoyed this story. Everything seemed to wrap up nicely as if the author had intended it to be a stand alone novel, until the last few pages. I think the author decided at the very last possible second to create an opening for another book. Luckily though, there are no cliffhangers. Also, the narrators did a wonderful job!

Review: Wow, this was awesome! I read quite a bit of horror so imagine my surprise when the gore in this book made me queasy. Can't say that's ever happened before. While technically the entire book is pretty gruesome, after a while its not so shocking. I do agree with the others that the beginning is terribly confusing with all of the similar names, but of course as the story goes on it gets easier. The suspense is incredible and unlike other books that shift to someone else's point of view just to build suspense, Battle Royale only switched when it enhanced the story. For those interested in reading because of the similarities to The Hunger Games, be advised Battle Royale makes The Hunger Games seem preschool appropriate.

As for the audio edition, I thought the narrator did a wonderful job. It was refreshing just hearing the book read without awful accents etc. distracting me from the story. However I did have trouble with it skipping often so I had to do quite a bit of rewinding to catch what I had missed. I would have returned it but I hoped it would get better and then I was too engrossed with the story to stop. It skipped on both my kindle and my phone.
