The North is a Chimera, by Plata Ramirez, is a wonderful and well-written story which portrays an insightful cult of the Venezuelan culture, its idiosyncrasy and its peoples. It also depicts an interesting and intuitive portray of the American culture from a Latin-American stand point. It is a melting pot in which different cultures play specific roles throughout the story. It is a criticism to the dual morality, the stereotypes and the hidden racism. It is a discovery and development of the self-identity. It is an Ode to diversity in many different ways. One example of this is the chapter Cambus. It is a lovely storytelling of young Victoria, her memories, her perspectives and understandings of the realities around her. I love this audiobook and I strongly recommend it.
