Historia
A widower with four adopted daughters, Emmit McKay likes to keep a handle on things. But nothing can prepare the former FBI sharpshooter for the battles coming to his small hometown, especially the one which arrives in such a tempting package. Savannah Walker moves to Blue Creek to take over as principal of the school Emmit’s daughters attend. With a masters’ degree in education and a no-nonsense attitude, she is caught off guard by the behavior of the McKay girls and never expects to fall in love with them - or in lust with their father.

An Intriguing Mystery
Revisado: 11-18-19
An entertaining story that will leave you thoughtful. It’s got mystery, romance, AND four slightly unruly children who will win your hearts. It has the feel of an earlier time with the children as well as the attitudes of some of the other students and parents. The narrator, Susan Marlowe, does a wonderful job with the many voices, both adult and child! I’m looking forward to learning where the series leads. Will it be among the children or former FBI agent father, Emmitt?

Historia
“I’m working on the greatest mystery ever!” was the last thing noted mystery novelist Mercedes Livingston said to seven-year-old Chris Matheson before walking out of Hill House Hotel never to be seen again. For decades, the writer’s fate remained a puzzling mystery until an autographed novel and a letter put a grown-up Chris Matheson on the trail of a cunning killer.

Warming up a Cold Case
Revisado: 10-23-19
It’s good to be back with Chris Matheson and the infamous “Geezer Squad” in the third book of the series. A long missing, presumed dead, author may not have died decades ago. But someone did. Chris and his fellow retired law enforcement book club members are determined to find answers. As usual they do it with the help of animals (even Gnarly) and a lot of humor. As Mayor, Gnarly shares a starring role while political undermining threatens his position, a funny part of the story that you won’t want to miss. After all, he is one clever German Shepherd.
Terrific narration makes this an easy listen. You can see my full review on Mystery Suspense Reviews.
It’s a fun one! I highly recommend Lauren Carr’s series. Very entertaining!

Historia
Homicide Detective Cameron Gates learned long ago that there is no such thing as a typical murder case. Each mystery is special in its own right. The homicide of a successful executive, husband, and father seems open and shut when the murder weapon is found in his estranged son-in-law’s possession. The circumstantial evidence is so damning that when her stepson, J.J. Thornton, agrees to act as the defendant’s public defender, he assumes his first murder case will be a loss. Only the report of a missing husband proves that this case is not as open and shut as it seems.

Hooray!
Revisado: 09-26-19
Hooray! Joshua Thornton and Cameron Gates are back! This is a favorite series of mine written by Lauren Carr. A prosecutor and a homicide detective, a husband and wife. Excellent characters, animals to cheer you up, and a complex mystery with plenty of suspects. The accused looks guilty, but both Joshua and Cameron have their doubts. Enter son J. J., the attorney. Is it as clear cut as it seems, or do events long past hold the answers?

An intriguing mystery...
Revisado: 08-12-19
A mystery with a ’touch’ of the unusual. What if you could see a past life on anyone you might touch? Wouldn’t that be intriguing if sometimes frightening? This entertaining mystery will take you on that path, a path that includes murder. Audrey Eames has inherited an Inn on the Oregon Coast. Not everyone is happy to see her there.
Past Presence is a fast and fun read/listen. Glad I listened! Sandra Murphy’s narration was a pleasure. Listening enabled me to stay with the story while driving. Enjoyed the characters, the mystery and the setting. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review. You can read my full review at Mystery Suspense Reviews.

What’s not to enjoy about a lovely mystery featuring dogs. In this case, kidnapped dogs come to the attention of two infamous crime solving corgis. With some assistance from their human naturally.
It’s my first audiobook by Mr. Poole, but it won’t be the last. Exciting to learn there are already several others in the series. Well written, with humor and mystery, the author will be one I’ll follow.

Historia
It’s a bittersweet reunion for Mac Faraday when members of his former homicide squad arrive at the Spencer Inn. While it is sweet to attend the wedding of the daughter of a former colleague, it is a bitter reminder that the mother of the bride had been the victim of a double homicide on her own wedding night. The brutal slaying weighing heavy on his mind, Mac is anxious to explore every possibility for a break in the cold case - even a suggestion from disgraced former detective Louis Gannon that one of their former colleagues was the killer.

Another Hit for Lauren Carr!
Revisado: 06-24-19
It’s always such a treat when Mac Faraday returns in his series. Along with Archie, David, and Gnarly of course.
This time around the wedding of a young woman may result in solving the murder of her mother and her new husband many years before. Mac had promised the young girl he would solve the murder back then, but it remains unsolved. With many of the same guests in attendance for this one, will new clues turn up?
The mystery is complex (as always), the characters charming (like good friends), and the humor (keeps you smiling) included make for a wonderful way to spend some time. Mike Alger’s narration adds to the listen. Since I didn’t want to stop ‘reading’ it was a plus to have the audio version. Love to continue with the story even while I have other things to do.
If you haven’t read Lauren Carr, start here. You will so enjoy the creative mysteries!

It all started with a chance encounter in the city with Blair, his late wife. Chris Matheson and the Geezer Squad, working under the guise of a book club, dig into the events surrounding his late wife’s supposed death halfway around the globe. A state department employee shoots himself in the back three times. A CIA operative goes missing. A woman is targeted by an international assassin three years after being declared dead in a terrorist attack overseas. Nothing is as it seems.

Don't Miss This One!
Revisado: 06-14-19
The latest Chris Matheson novel is excellent! A cold case that involves Chris’ wife. The wife who died several years earlier. Or did she? The secret she hides leads Chris and the Geezer Squad on an investigation that involves high government officials. Complex and twisting, it’s a pleasure to listen along! So glad I got it in audio. Mike Alger fits the characters so well.
Another surprise is the presence of Murphy Thornton (from the Thorny Rose series) in this novel. The ways the characters from Ms. Carr’s series interact makes every book even better. Since they begin to feel like family you are always glad to see them when they make an appearance.
Now I will be anxiously awaiting the next one. Thank you Lauren Carr!

Love This Series!
Revisado: 06-04-19
The Holy Grail is book 13 in this fine series, and each one is more entertaining. Loved the idea of this one. An innocent man who donates blood, only to find himself wanted as a number one terrorist. Sam Reilly may be the only one to help him, but he doesn’t know the whole story.
Well written, concise, with plenty of twists and engaging dialog. This one may be my favorite (though I seem to be saying that now with each new book).
I received a free copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily written this review. Narrator David Gilmore IS the voice of Sam Reilly—as he has been throughout the series.
