Historia
Addax al-Kort was not born in England. As the heir to the throne of a defunct distant kingdom (near present day Pakistan), Addax came to England with a trade caravan when he was very young. He became a page for a powerful knight and worked his way through the ranks and protocols of Medieval England to become a full-fledged English knight serving William Marshal. Addax is part of the brotherhood of Executioner Knights serving the Marshal, but he has a great talent for the tournament circuit. Competing under a standard emblazoned with black dragon, he becomes quite rich.

I'm ready for Essien's story!
Revisado: 06-06-24
I really enjoyed this book. It had the right amount of romance and enough drama to keep things going. It was nice to get a closer look at one of the two brothers found by Christopher De Lohr and his men during their time in the Levant. I hope that Essien's story is coming to us soon.

Don’t let this one pass you by!
Revisado: 06-16-23
This was an excellent story, I enjoyed every moment listening and was sorry to see it end. It had the right mix of suspense and romance, and made a strong statement about support of family and friends during what can be tough and even dangerous times in life. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Excellent Book
Revisado: 03-13-21
I skipped over this hidden gem a few times before finally deciding to give it a try. All I can say is I wish I had not wasted time putting it off. This story had it all - romance, adventure, suspense, mystery, etc. I was never bored the whole time. Sure, the original book was released in the 90s, but who cares? A great story is timeless. Sorry to see it end. Oh well, on to the next NR audio!

Historia
I moved to Paris for my study abroad program and ended up staying, getting a French literature degree, studying the classics while sipping the best wine I'd ever had. My sister never makes the best decisions, always makes messes to clean up, and it's finally time for me to have my own life. But when she comes to Paris for a visit, she brings trouble with her. She gets herself into a bad situation, and, of course, I come to her rescue. Now we're in a labor camp in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by snow and mountains, processing drugs for a group of men who never show their faces.

Revisado: 11-20-20
I can always count on Penelope to bring the DRAMA - LOL. Yeah, it's a cliffy, but we know how it works by now with this author. Either you're in or you're out. But you can't beat the storytelling. I was completely enthralled. Can't wait until the next book!

Historia
As the nation recovers from the Trump presidency, many questions remain: Why was the COVID-19 pandemic so grossly mishandled? How did we get so politically polarized? What caused White nationalist groups to come out of the shadows, and are they here to stay? The answers lie the twisted story of the relationship between Donald Trump and Fox News. Through firsthand accounts from over 250 current and former Fox insiders, CNN anchor and chief media correspondent Brian Stelter unlocks the inner workings of Rupert Murdoch’s multibillion-dollar media empire.

Confirmed Everything I Always Suspected
Revisado: 10-20-20
This, in the end, is a very sad story about how our media landscape has been so contaminated. Some of it has been gradual due to non-enforcement of long standing law regarding ownership and conduct of media outlets. In addition, a major telecommunications act was passed in the 1990s that pretty much re-wrote the these rules for ownership and operation of media. Still other reasons have to do with with the beginning of the internet, which forced newspapers and traditional network news to begin to look for ways to stay afloat by becoming ever more concerned with ratings (i.e., ad revenue) rather than providing actual news to viewers. Our nation is in serious trouble right now because huge swaths of the population are literally believing a completely different set of information or dare I say "alternative facts." I don't know how we get out of this situation anytime soon. It took a long time to get to this point. But I'll just quote a media personality that I heard recently; "First we all have to agree on where we are, and next how we got there." Only then can we begin to dig our way out.

Too Long
Revisado: 02-07-20
The original release of this book was around 20 years ago based on references made by characters throughout the book. So in some ways this book also seemed to be dated to me on western perceptions of middle eastern societies. Not that there are not still vast cultural differences between the two, but I guess I've learned so much more since the late 90s. There are some areas of the middle east that are not as patriarchal as portrayed in the book. However, I acknowledge that there are still some that are still mired in a culture that severely suppresses the rights of women.
Having said that, my chief complaint is that the book was too long. The story could have been told in 8 to 9 hours. I actually fell asleep on a couple of hours and decided not to go back to listen to what I missed. I found that I really didn't miss any key information that impacted the rest of the book.
No problems with the narrator - thought he was pretty good.

This is a great book
Revisado: 12-30-19
I'm not even quite finished with this read, but felt compelled to immediately start reviewing this book. If you're looking to be carried away for awhile with great storytelling this book will do it. No moments of boredom and the story kept a good pace throughout. I have read other historical fiction from this author, and although I am unfamiliar with the life of Jane Shore, I'm quite certain that you will do yourself a favor if you give this one a listen.

What a Heartache (In a Good Way)
Revisado: 07-05-19
I was pleasantly surprised by this. I admit that I wasn't expecting much, but this was a very emotional and involving story. As another reviewer noted, I became invested in the characters, and the narration was spot on. Have to say that the narration probably contributed greatly to my enjoyment of the story. The ending is not typical for a romance, but it was realistic, and I can appreciate something different once and a while. Bravo. I hope to listen to more offerings from this author.

Wonderful, Wonderful Book
Revisado: 04-22-19
You've heard this before, but it's true in my case - I rarely write reviews. But this book was so excellent that I just had to take a few minutes to let others know what a truly enjoyable experience it was listening to this story. Kathryn Le Veque is definitely one of the most talented historical romance writers out there. This book was 16+ hrs. and not once did I get bored listening to it. What I love about Kathryn's work is that she balances the romantic elements of her stories very well with adventure, suspense, etc. (sometimes too much romantic angst can get on your nerves a bit). Also appreciated that characters from another great book from Kathryn, Lord of the Shadows (Sean DeLara and King John), were included in this story. Can't wait for the next one Kathryn - Bravo!
