Strange premise...just ok
Revisado: 11-03-23
I thought the narrator was good but I did speed up the tempo because she read it so slowly I was falling asleep. The story was very strange, not sure I agree with her depiction of mental illness. Also, I felt the ending was wrong but I won't say why in order not to give it away. I usually really like Sally Hepworth but this one was a disappointment.

My new favorite heroin, Veronica Speedwell!
Revisado: 02-03-23
I am so glad i discovered Deanna Raybourn. Her books are fun, hold my interest, clean but not chaste, and we’ll written. Veronica and Stoker are a great pair and I am excited to read about their next adventure!

Historia
On a summer afternoon in 1998, six-year-old Iris Neff walked away from a barbecue in her small suburban town...and vanished. Missing persons investigator Brenna Spector has a rare neurological disorder that enables her to recall every detail of every day of her life. A blessing and a curse, it began in childhood, when her older sister stepped into a strange car never to be seen again, and it’s proven invaluable in her work. But it hasn’t helped her solve the mystery that haunts her above all others - and it didn’t lead her to little Iris.

Good story…Atrocious narration!
Revisado: 02-05-22
I hung in there until the end because this was actually a pretty good story, well written and fairly suspenseful, but it required an amazing amount of perseverance and concentration to do so because of the way this book was read. The sad part is the narrator could have been fine. When she was just reading the “basic” parts of the story in her natural voice she did great and you could tolerate her, but whenever she decided to do a character voice, Oh My Gosh! I have never heard anything so horrible! I don’t know how the distributor of this Audible book let this go out to the public. It was so hard to listen to and get past. She made her characters sound like whiny ,annoying, three-year-old children. No, whiny, annoying, three-year-old children even sound better. It is beyond me how she could’ve thought this was acceptable. Do yourself a favor and buy the book and read it, don’t listen to this Audible book.

Kept my interest
Revisado: 05-15-21
This is a modern day retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo. Jeffrey Archer does a good job of keeping the reader interested and I enjoyed the narration. I was surprised by all the negative reviews. I would definitely recommend this audiobook.

Good story, awful narration
Revisado: 02-21-21
This story was interesting and I stuck with it to the end but barely due to the narrator of the character, Dr. Lydia Shields. Oh my goodness! She was so monotone, so bloodless, i found myself dreading the chapters that were hers. Because of that I think it made that character hard to believe and consequently the entire book. I’m pretty sure I would have enjoyed this book a lot more had I just read it myself.

Suspenseful and different
Revisado: 07-10-20
Very long and loads of plot twists, but kind of all over the place. I got the impression the author had all these different ideas for stories and tried to cram them into this one novel. Because of that, the plot got muddy at times. I enjoyed the author's narration however and I must have liked the book well enough because I'm thinking of listening to another one written by her.
