Historia
Jeannette Walls grew up with parents whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Rose Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads, moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination. Rose Mary painted and wrote and couldn't stand the responsibility of providing for her family; she called herself an "excitement addict."

Historia
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

Historia
Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching, Beth Hoffman's sparkling debut is, as Kristin Hannah says, "packed full of Southern charm, strong women, wacky humor, and good old-fashioned heart." It is a novel that explores the indomitable strengths of female friendship and gives us the story of a young girl who loses one mother and finds many others.

Unexpectedly wonderful book!
Revisado: 08-27-12
What did you love best about Saving Ceecee Honeycutt?
He hooked me from the very beginning with perfect pace & characters you care about.
What other book might you compare Saving Ceecee Honeycutt to and why?
Joshilyn Jackson novels because of the multitude of quirky Southern characters in her novels & this novel and also because of the humor being very similar to that of Joshilyn Jackson novels.
What about Jenna Lamia’s performance did you like?
LOVE, love, love Jenna Lamia in everything she does. I actually chose this book because I love Jenna Lamia's voice so I thought I'd give the book a shot. Jenny Lamia can make even a not-so-good book tolerable, but this book combined with Jenna Lamia's voice= perfection!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The scene with the hummingbird, but I can't say more without posting a spoiler. :D

Nonny Frett understands the meanings of "rock" and "hard place" better than any woman ever born. She's got two mothers, "one deaf-blind and the other four baby steps from flat crazy". She's got two men: her husband, who's easing out the back door; and her best friend, who's laying siege to her heart in her front yard. She has a job that holds her in the city, and she's addicted to a little girl who's stuck deep in the country.

Revisado: 08-27-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! It hooked me from the very beginning!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Between, Georgia?
I can't say without spoiling the book, but I will say there are several memorable moments so it would be hard to pick just one anyway.
What does Joshilyn Jackson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I love listening to an auther-read audiobook because they add inflection where they intended it to be & you get the full intention of the author when they are the ones reading it. There were several scenarios that I think I interpreted just the way Joshilyn Jackson intended, but may not have had I read the book myself.
If you could rename Between, Georgia, what would you call it?
Noni Frett

Where does Gods in Alabama rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
God in Alabama is near the top of the list.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Gods in Alabama?
The ending.
What about Catherine Taber’s performance did you like?
Her voice seemed to fit perfectly as that of the main character. Her inflection and tone mirrored what the character seemed to be feeling at the time perfectly.
If you could take any character from Gods in Alabama out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Aunt Florence because there were a lot of things about her left unanswered.

Just okay.
Revisado: 08-27-12
Where does The Rebel Wife rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The Rebel Wife is probably a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. It was good enough that I wanted to finish it, but not so good that I was hooked & had to listen with every free second I had like other books I've really, really enjoyed.
What did you like best about this story?
The best part of this story was the history lesson it provided. While I've read many Civil War era novels, I haven't read many Reconstruction era novels, so that was interesting.
What aspect of Johanna Parker’s performance would you have changed?
I would've changed the monotonous tone of the narrator. I realize that the main character's state of mind throughout most of the book required that, but I felt it was slightly overdone & there was little inflection/feeling/passion where it seemed there should have been some.
If you could take any character from The Rebel Wife out to dinner, who would it be and why?
The main character because she was quite a contradiction- both fragile & tough, naive, but wise.

Loved it! Narrator amazing!
Revisado: 02-22-12
If you could sum up Constant Princess in three words, what would they be?
Engaging, informative, feminist
What did you like best about this story?
The strength & determination of Catherine
What does Jill Tanner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narrator makes you feel as if you are listening to Catherine herself & you understand more about her intentions & why she was so determined.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were 2 moments that most moved me- when her baby dies & the very end (last paragraphs) of the book when we see her defiance in its full glory.
Any additional comments?
I loved this book! I went against the voice put in the back of my mind by some of the other reviewers & bought this book anyway. I ended up loving it & I couldn't get enough & i must say that I'm a very discriminating reader (listener). If something doesn't capture me from the beginning, there's very little hope of me finishing. This book never lost my interest despite some of the other reviewers saying there were parts that they felt dragged on. I also read a lot of reviews that seemed to suggest they disliked the parts of the book where Catherine spoke in the 1st person, but I rather enjoyed those parts. Maybe this book isn't perfectly historically accurate (was she a virgin or not?), but does anyone read historical fiction & expect it to be as *perfectly* accurate as a history book? That's where the
