It was a "million-dollar bullet," a sniper shot delivered from over a mile away. Its victim was a United States citizen, targeted by the United States government, and assassinated in the Bahamas. The nation's most renowned investigator and forensics expert, Lincoln Rhyme, is drafted to investigate. As details of the case start to emerge, the he discovers that not all is what it seems. Few first comments
Revisado: 06-04-13
What did you like best about The Kill Room? What did you like least?
The book was only released a few hours ago and I am only one chapter four, so I can not comment on the story, only my first impressions of the narration.
This is the first of the Rhyme books that has used multiple narrators and, so far, I am not impressed. The voice chosen for Rhyme makes him sound weak and not at all in control. The female used for Amanda makes her sound like some valley girl not the in-control cop she is. Hopefully that will change as the book goes on. It almost sounds as if each of the narrators read their parts independently of each other and the parts were edited together. If anyone who makes these decisions reads these reviews, please stick with a single GOOD narrator. Deaver weaves a good story and the wrong narrator can destroy that.

Historia
Behind the well-known U.S. security organizations - the FBI and CIA among them - lies a heavily guarded, anonymous government agency dedicated to intelligence surveillance and to a highly specialized brand of citizen protection. Shock waves of alarm ripple through the clandestine agency when Washington, D.C., police detective Ryan Kessler inexplicably becomes the target of Henry Loving, a seasoned, ruthless “lifter” hired to obtain information using whatever means necessary.

Not your Father's Deaver
Revisado: 11-11-10
As a Deaver audio fan, I found this outing a little off his stride. Writing in the first person does present some challenges in a Jeffery Deaver type novel. If you are looking for Lincoln Rymes - this ain't it. About the second or third chapter I started to realize this it was more Sam Spade than Lincoln Rymes. It is almost an updated throw-back to the pulp detective novels of yesteryear with Deaver's unique twists. To be honest, I am only half way through it, but it is growing on me. Not the Deaver I love but one I can appreciate.
The narrator was not the best choice. He gets the job done but does not add to the novel.
If my opinion changes as a finish the audio book, I will update this posting.

Historia
Kenneth Ewald has what it takes to win the presidency: the support of his party, a lovely wife, a dynamic campaign. What neither he nor any candidate needs is a corpse. He knows only one man capable of solving a crime, clearing his son, putting his campaign back on track and catching a killer: his best friend Mac Smith. Oddly enough, it was Mac and his dog Rufus who found the body in the first place.

The reader ruined it
Revisado: 02-26-09
I love Margaret Truman and had read this book years ago. I wanted very much to listen to it but I could not get past the reader. He has a tooth whistle every time he says an "s" and it drove me up a wall. The producer droped the ball by leting him get by with it.
