Revisado: 04-05-22
This book was a phenomenal tear jerker, with bouts of hysterically funny dialogue, and a realistic enlightening of how not to live. A novel of both halves of suffering and loving, with such fantastic characters I really hope it wasn’t based on someones true life. I would more than likely have to respectfully pity and worship them as I quietly bought a poster of their films to hang on my wall. The life’s truth is laid out from husband to husband about such a glamorous life of actress EH that it makes you set down the book in anger only to realize you are just taking longer to read the words so you can savor the pleasure you derive at the telling.
Please read. Please. Its worth every syllable and every moment of your time and many more

Historia
The daughter of a Legion war hero, fighting was in Andien Broxin's blood. But the battles Republic marines face on strange and alien worlds are a far cry from the vaunted, brutal, no-holds-barred conflicts fought at the edge of the galaxy by the elite legionnaires. Until a devastating war erupts right in the Republic’s stellar backyard. Newly stationed on a mid-core planet being harassed by terrorist revolutionaries, Andien and her fellow “hullbusters” find themselves right in the middle of a desperate fight for survival.

Forget Nothing is to die for....pun intended
Revisado: 08-03-20
Well as an overall review I have to say I freak'n loved this story.
The realism of a marines military lifestyle while deployed, the fight and strategies used during the battle, the mistakes, the wins, the losses, the challenges of an officer, and the prejudice of the female in the service, and especially the things we do not forget, was spot on. The characters were somewhat stereotyped (Gunny and Legionnaires) but the MC was a strong lead female officer, one on the fast track but still, an officer who worked her way up not skipping the real growth needed to perform at all levels. Three thoughts of criticism, there was not a speck of romance unless I missed some underground implied thing (or you include the chars love of the military life) and I felt perhaps there may have been a moment or two of thought about it, even if it were not pursued. Women do like romance. Secondly, the prejudice of women in the military was hardly played up. This MC character hardly mentioned having any hardship regarding her military career. Perhaps the authors were deeming the military as progressive since it was science fiction or perhaps they felt too much of a bad thing detracts from the story but the lightness of that harsh aspect of a woman being in the service and being an officer read really false to me. The military man line is real and movies often portray the all-male elite soldiers achieving some historical deed because that's how it is, all men. Women are not involved. The third critique thing is the ending came way too early for this book, leaving the reader to guess at which way the char's fate would end up being. I hated that. The awesome academy addition to this story would have been David Webers Honor Harrington meets Starship Troopers for reals.
The science fiction of the story was excellent but not exactly the forefront of the story. It was a good background but really this was a military story. I did love the elite group the legionnaires. I really need to know the outcome of the MCs decision, please. Very good audible.
The performance of the reader was excellent with a strong voice, clear verbalization, passion in the exciting bits, and it was a very nice voice to listen too. Great job, Khristine Hvam
I found other Galaxy's edge books. I'm going to go check them out.

Besides, how hard could one festive family weekend be, anyway? That’s before she meets the boisterous McElroy clan, with accents as thick as a homemade pie crust, and an endless supply of competitive siblings, including Lizzie, Michael’s beautiful younger sister.

HOT with a slice of sizzle and soooo funny.
Revisado: 01-15-20
Incredible humor and down right entertainment, KL Hughes beans her intended target with a snow ball right in the kisser on this one (you'll get this later). I was completely enchanted. The couples obvious care for each other as best friends is sweater than a candy cane. The family dynamics between the 85 siblings is as chunky and delicious as cherry pie. And the tension and heat between the romance builds burns brighter than an outdoor Xmas light. This was a romantic romance from start to finish. The traditional ice skating scene was opted out for a snowball fight. The MC had superbly written anxieties that shined when they needed too, causing all sorts of havoc. Even Grandma had her moments. Totally a fun, awesome ride down the snow covered mountain in a toboggan made of laughter, ridiculousness, emotional commitment, and unbridled sex. You had me at "lay back, I want to..." Thank you KL
My audible was narrated by Nicole Blessing and she just about made me spew my drink a half dozen times. The comedic timing was perfect, the tone was redonkulus. And Nicolle even sounds as southern as my granddaddy's nanny from Nawlins.
Great combo of talent and writing. Buy this book. No, I mean it. Right now. Buy this book.

Most Incredible story of the decade
Revisado: 01-02-20
I loved it and i know it was the best book ive purchased in the last 10 years. It was so heartwarming, down to earth, perfectly outrageous, and laugh out loud funny. If you don’t read this book you are truly missing out on learning about the historical issues women faced in the 1930s, issues the country faced during the depression, and how deliverance can be found in the beating heart. This is a romance mixed with an adventure mixed with a historical record during the depression. jojo moyes is a natural story teller. I don’t care if she had fifteen editors and a passal of dogs howling their opinion. Nobody writes this familiar without listening and living with the hill country residence and reliving that time.
Julia Whelan was an additional treat and did her due diligence to lend her voice to the heartbeat of the authors tone. 15 stars ladies. Really that damn good.

Does Hunter not have a back story for her name? Regardless, she and Sammie-sam made sparks and romance look so good. Thank you Melissa Braydon for giving up this great read. But Hunter breaking down I Love Lucy was just...wrong. Yes we know Ethel is an enabler. I would have thought a few more convo’s with Elvis might have been made but eh, it was a staring contest thing im sure.
Felicity makes me laugh and laugh and cry and feel all warm squishy. Her voice is just right. Felicity Munroe’s voice hits the GoldieLocks just right sweet spot. Thanks Munroe.

Revisado: 08-21-19
Thanks for the audible M.E.
I super enjoyed this third party walk-about given from the viewpoint of Parr, the little brother of Evie. Parr's take on the world around him began to grow as he began to mature throughout this book. It was natural and funny at times and still held that little brother vibe in that he loved his sister, even though he could hate her at times. Evie was almost stereotypical butch and the world she was surrounded in was small-town stereotypical Boonie bible belt country. Her family was great and her parents were a superb contradiction toward the daughters butch ways. I love how that migrated over time, first, the mom was anti-butch and the dad was good to go, then mom learned to accept and suddenly Dad was anti-butch and had to learn to accept. Then the entire family became a wonderful supporting family to Evie regardless. It was HEA in a way. But you have to read it to see how the many lives Evie affected were altered and how she encouraged people to understand everyone is different. Kerr really did a great job on this book. Absolutely superb growth and maturity for all the characters. Hope she publishes another one this strong and compelling soon.
PS I don't usually listen to books with male narrators because they just can't pull off the females. Maxwell Glick showed me how seriously demented I am. Thank you, Max, for charming me with your vocal prowess so very much. <high-five>

Historia
When Duke meets Molly Grettano and her two sons at the ballpark, she instantly connects with the young family, but Molly isn't sure Duke's ready for something more. Molly wants someone softer, more feminine, and someone steady. She and her boys have been abandoned before, and she's vowed to never to put them in that position again. If she were ever to trust anyone, it would have to be someone fully dedicated to her and her children. Duke has a lot of heart, but neither woman is sure there's enough room left in it for anything other than baseball.

Not a light hearted romance with baseball.
Revisado: 08-21-19
Give this one a 4.5 if you love baseball. I found some of the life lessons and sayings very intuitive. The story plot was great and both women had major issues to contend with. I think the name Duke was super memorable but once the romance kicked in Molly called her Sarah it took me out of the story a bit. The kids were great, as usual. Molly was a mess but very realistic, with her concerns. The character development was not as smooth as some other books I've read by Rachel but really...baseball. So run with it.
I loved the cliches that were explained as metaphors and the chapter titles that developed the book and progressed the plot, step by step. Rachel should do that more often. It was really fun and engaging to see what the title held for the chapter to follow. Great audible for the car ride i take every weekend, back and forth for 3 hours. AJ Fererro does a wonderful job separating the voices and really delivering everyone as a separate entity. Thanks. SPOILERS from here out:
The heartbreak was horrible, so I guess Rachel did her job. I've read worse but this one caught me sideways in that I didn't quite understand what was causing the breakup. Duke seemed so mature and stable and I didn't understand why Molly was half-crazed about this totally great woman being a flake. Of course, Rachel guided us around the bases and found a reason to say Duke was not fully committed or she was spreading herself too thin not giving 100%. That didn't ring true to me b/c her job was important and I still don't really see why she had to give it up. Perhaps I should reread it but I'm just flipping my coin toss here. Do they do coin tosses in baseball....uh oh, mixing my metaphors? I also don't recall Duke ever dealing with her daddy issues except to say something like "she would never do that to Molly's kids" and that was it. I would have thought she would have spoken to her father about the unfair treatment she received growing up as a girl in her family. At first, I thought Molly was involved in a relationship with the Mafia or something. The grandfather issue was a moot point since he died. OK, I'm done ripping out Rachel's guts. Sorry. This could have been so much more. It was good but...

Enjoyed the boi and the femme story.
Revisado: 08-21-19
I loved the dichotomy of the femme and the boi. The characters led this story. The life coach Elaine had some issues and it was interesting but the character of Joey was the crux of the book and how she changed her outlooks and personality after coaching was encouraging to all of us shy folk. Rachel did a wonderful job introducing both sides of the spectrum for femme/boi, coach/learner, someone who needs to learn to love/someone who loves too much. I enjoyed the plot, the characters, and the growth of the romance (although THAT took forever). Rachel always adds in a kid. I like that too. Great read. Get it. Plus AJ Ferraro providing the audible narration was good. She did make Joey sound a little whiney at first but that settled down after the second chapter. Then Joey sounded like she needed to grow up. Her friend Lisa sounded like a kick in the pants too. It was a fun listen and worth the dime.
