Long book, but a great ride...
Revisado: 01-12-21
I didn't know what to expect or what I was getting into when I bought this, but I was pleasantly surprised by this book.
First off, this book is long, very long. That said, it did hook me in early into the story and kept me curious. There are quite a few well-written characters to keep track of, and I found some relateable and liked while others made me angry. I know this was the author's intent.
The story developes well (did I mention it is long?) and paces nicely. It did keep me engaged and often times I just couldn't stop listening.
I will admit, I really had to concentrate and pay attention as from the mid-point of the story to the end there is a lot of shuffling between characters/groups of characters and storyline.
I am not much of a sci-fi fan, but this one sucked me in and wouldn't let go. Yes, it was worth the 20+ hours.

Historia
When linguist Andrew Dennison is yanked from his bed by the Secret Service and taken to a top secret facility in the desert, he has no idea he's been brought there to translate the words of an ancient demon. He joins pretty but cold veterinarian Sun Jones, eccentric molecular biologist Dr. Frank Belgium, and a hodge-podge of religious, military, and science personnel to try and figure out if the creature is, indeed, Satan. But things quickly go bad, and very soon Andy isn't just fighting for his life, but the lives of everyone on earth…

Bub is in the house!
Revisado: 09-16-14
Where does Origin rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book ranked up there.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Origin?
The feeding of Bub
Which scene was your favorite?
When Andy first met Bub.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I wanted to learn more about what Bub was and what he was capable of.
Any additional comments?
I liked this story. I wasn't sure what to expect when I read the description as this could have been a painfully bad read. From the original discovery of Bub I was intrigued.
It reminded me of Jurassic Park in that they had kept a potentially dangerous creature behind glass as scientists studied it trying to understand what it was.
Lots of religious overtones since they suspect that Bub is a demon or the devil himself. Despite this possibility, Bub is likable. The characters are likable too despite their checkered pasts.
The ending is a little bit of a let down, but does keep the door open for more.

Great ending to the trilogy
Revisado: 09-12-14
Would you listen to The Last Town again? Why?
Yes, but after I listened to Pines and Wayward again
Which scene was your favorite?
The end where Ethan let's the cat out of the bag
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No
Any additional comments?
This book completes the trilogy and I recommend that you start with the first book, Pines.
Since the second book ends in a cliff-hanger, this book started off with me anticipating what was going to happen next. Lots of chaos and suspense in this book. We get to see the true evil of the "mad scientist" who made Wayward Pines and I found myself hoping for revenge on him.

Historia
Five days ago a rash of bizarre murders swept the country. Senseless. Brutal. Seemingly unconnected. A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike. A mass of school shootings. Prison riots of unprecedented brutality. Mind-boggling acts of violence in every state. Four Days Ago the murders increased ten-fold. Three days ago the President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace. Two days ago the killers began to mobilize. Yesterday all the power went out. Tonight....

Full of action and suspense
Revisado: 09-12-14
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Probably not.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Wanting to see if and how everything was resolved.
What about Phil Gigante’s performance did you like?
Very good performance and easy to listen to voice. If I had to be picky, the female and child voices were a bit annoying.
Did Run inspire you to do anything?
Nope
Any additional comments?
After reading the Pines trilogy by Blake Crouch (which I highly recommend,) I couldn't wait to read another of his stories so I got this book. I was a little disappointed with this one.
The start was a little confusing for me as it just starts off with a family trying to escape the neighborhood after their name is read off on the radio. But that is where the action/mystery starts and there was plenty of action.
As another reviewer stated, the wife is annoying. She is all about putting all the responsibility on the husband for everything including why he didn't fix their marriage after SHE had an affair (not a spoiler to the story, this affair happened in the past and before the time frame of this book)
Towards the end she starts to redeem herself a bit, but the husband is burdened with getting them out of almost every struggle they get into.
But this book is full of struggle, adventure and action and for that I give it 3 stars.

Historia
This is the infamous follow-up to Serial Uncut, featuring 21 different serial killers. For everyone who thinks the bad guys are so much more fun to read than the good guys, we’ve written a novel just for you. In the annuls of modern thriller fiction, the villains always steal the show. We love to read and watch great villains. In many cases, they’re the best, most entertaining parts of our books, so it only made sense to write a book featuring every major villain we’ve ever written.

Horrific, perverted and GRAPHIC
Revisado: 09-12-14
Where does Killers Uncut rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Not quite my kind of book, although I couldn't stop listening to it. Not sure that I can blame the story (there are very sick people out there) but it was almost TMI about the lives and behaviors of serial killers.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The relationships between serial killers. It seems like anytime a serial killer has a run-in with other serial killers a) they can recognize each other as serial killers b) they bond and develop a relationship c) seem to gravitate back to each other eventually. I am not fond of stories that skip to the future, back to the past, then to the present and this book is full of that. Couple in the fact that it tells the story of multiple killers' lives, it sometimes left me trying to figure out where we were in the timeline and who's life we were reading about.
Which scene was your favorite?
The opening story where we learn about Luther's past was so intense for me.
Any additional comments?
This is the follow-up to Serial and It's hard for me to say whether I'd recommend Killers or not. This is NOT the type of book I usually enjoy and the subject matter is graphic and scary as hell. But I could not stop listening and that counts for something.

Crouch does it again...
Revisado: 08-29-14
If you could sum up Wayward in three words, what would they be?
Couldn't stop listening
Who was your favorite character and why?
Ethan Burke
Have you listened to any of Paul Michael Garcia’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Paul is consistent in his performance.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
In this second book of the trilogy about the mysteriously strange Wayward Pines, Crouch continues right where the first book ends. You should read the series in order since the first book really sets the foundation for the trilogy.I was just as engrossed in this story as I was in the first book, although there was a significant amount of time flashing back to events from the first book as well as prior events that weren't in the first book. This book crescendos at the very end that had me anticipating how it was going to end........and it ended in a cliff-hanger! I'm already reading the third book now and cannot wait to see what I'm in for now.

What a surprise....
Revisado: 08-29-14
Where does Pines rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
As a big fan of mysteries, I typically read a lot of crime stories. I saw this title and figured I'd switch it up a bit.Am I glad that I did! This book is the best I've read in years.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Ethan Burke. I related to Ethan throughout the entire book since he was just as confused as I was as to what was going on. Each of his discoveries in the mystery of Wayward Pines was my discovery.
His reactions, actions and logic as he tried to deal with his predicament made sense and flowed well.
What does Paul Michael Garcia bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Paul has a easy to listen to voice and his characters are not annoying or grating like other readers I've listened to.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The ending, the reveal.......wait for it.
Any additional comments?
This story is not my traditional read, but I could not stop listening. It kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. When I found out it was part of a trilogy I downloaded part 2 (Wayward) and 3 (The Last Town) - glad I did, I'm hooked.

At a high point in his career, Artie Lange performed a sold-out show in Carnegie Hall-and he did it with a pocketful of heroin. In the midst of a deep, self-destructive depression, addicted to heroin, cocaine, and prescription drugs, he lashed out at everyone around him-from his cohosts on The Howard Stern Show to celebrity guests and even his longtime friends. Then came his legendary meltdown on-air, with 6 million people listening, after which Lange pulled himself together enough to go to a buddy's bachelor party in Amsterdam.

Raw and Honest...
Revisado: 06-28-14
What made the experience of listening to Crash and Burn the most enjoyable?
As a long time fan of Artie and the Howard Stern show, I felt there was so much that was going on with Artie that I wish I knew. This book exposed so much of what was going on "off the air" that I had it hard to stop listening. This book made so much make sense for me.
What did you like best about this story?
The brutal honesty and "nothing held back" attitude that Artie has. Fans of Artie already know how great he tells a story. When it comes to a serious topic that this book covers, Artie did an excellent job of keeping it as lighthearted as possible in a way that only he can.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Artie recounted his relationship with Adrienne and when he got 100% honest about the suicide attempt.
Any additional comments?
I'm always pulling for Artie.
