Fascinating Storyline
Revisado: 11-26-23
Sherry Thomas has struck a cord with this storyline. It is a terrific period piece, with terrific characters, excellent narration, and a fascinating, twisting tale. Start with the first book in the series, you will have a deeper understanding of the characters back stories. However, if you want to start here you will be given all the details you need to warm to this series. Enjoy!

Historia
Everyone says I’m a bad girl. They’re only partly right - I don’t let fear rule me, and I certainly don’t care what people think. But I draw the line at sleeping with the enemy. As the daughter of Briar’s head hockey coach, I’d be vilified if I hooked up with a player from a rival team. And that’s who Jake Connelly is. Harvard’s star forward is arrogant, annoying, and too attractive for his own good. But fate is cruel - I require his help to secure a much-coveted internship, and the sexy jerk isn’t making it easy for me.

BEST BRIAR U BOOK (some spoilers)
Revisado: 01-07-22
This book is simply the best book in the Briar U series. The Risk and The Deal rival for the best out of all of them.
Something about Jake Connelly …. Besides his sex-appeal, teasing, and overall self-assured demeanor, I don’t know what it is, but his mysterious allure mixed with sexy Brenna Jensen and her confidence is something magical.
The two of them create a very special connection that’s undeniably compelling to read about.
Simply put, their chemistry was palpable.
I love Brenna’s journey to rekindle her relationship with her dad. It wasn’t pushed to the side too much, this novel didn’t feel like it was 90% romance/spice and 10% other issues.
It felt pretty balanced, Coach Jenson and Brenna’s reunion scene always makes me cry. But so does the break up scene between Connelly and Brenna. Proving—in my opinion—Elle Kennedy’s ability to make both romance and family scenes emotional and raw. Her ability to give attention to all of the issues presented in the book, not make one of them half-assed because she was more interested in writing the love scenes.
The BBU (Briar Book Universe—my spin on the MCU) is overall very intricate and well crafted. Some of the stories fall flat, but all in all, the fact that Kennedy created this whole fictitious world is very impressive. And The Risk in particular was the most impressive to me.

Historia
The gigantic comet had slammed into Earth, forging earthquakes a thousand times too powerful to measure on the Richter scale, tidal waves thousands of feet high. Cities were turned into oceans; oceans turned into steam. It was the beginning of a new Ice Age and the end of civilization. But for the terrified men and women chance had saved, it was also the dawn of a new struggle for survival--a struggle more dangerous and challenging than any they had ever known....

Amazing story line, important for today’s dystopian outlook.
Revisado: 11-24-20
This book is amazing. The authors tell the story of a meteor hitting the earth, but they do it from a myriad of points of view. Each person’s perspective broadens our understanding of what our role might be in a similar situation. The imagery is vivid, the characters eminently understandable. Finally, the narrator is excellent. It’s a great story, a great listen. Enjoy.

Written and narrated by a man at the top of both games. Fantastic!
Revisado: 12-13-18
John le Carrie demonstrates again and again that he is a man at the top of his game, whether that game is writing or narrating. With this offering you are getting three marvelous novels, each written in a distinctly different style. Sometimes authors narrate their work to great effect, at other times you want to say “Please leave the narration to the professionals.” In these three novels, le Carre gives the impression that he heard the voices of his characters speak in exactly the manner he narrates them, and therefore it was easy to give them each their exact sound. He carries the characters and the accents off beautifully. I cannot imagine another narrator for these audiobooks. As for his writing, I doubt you need me to tell you le Carre crafts the best spy thriller around. The author lays down set and setting in such a manner that you can feel the breezes of Panama, and see the sun glinting off the cutting shears in the tailor’s shop. My advice is pick up this bargain bundle. You won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic!
Revisado: 02-09-18
Jo Nesbo has created an amazing character in Harry Hole (pronounced Holy), an old fashioned detective with a heart of gold and a mean right. He is both humorous and cynical, poignant and sharp. John Lee's narration is endlessly engaging. If you haven't been introduced to Harry Hole, The Bat, Nesbo's first Hole story, is a great place to start. However, old fans who have already enjoyed some of Harry's other exploits, will find this introduction sure to please. You won't regret buying The Bat.

Terrific, engaging tale of space travel & spiders!
Revisado: 01-31-18
There is no way to describe how many genres the author covers, but evolution, space travel, biology, physics, cultural diversity and suspense are a good start. He's managed to work in ethics, humore and intelligent arachnoids. I love good science fiction and if the narrator is decent I will devour almost any decent sifi yarn. Children of Time surprised me. Its a page turner, and I couldn't stop listening. Enjoy!
