Historia
Timothy Walter Bolton - better known as Timmy - has spent most of his life as a necromancer. When he isn't terrorising his enemies, he's plotting inside his castle, which is built on top of lightless chasms filled with nameless horrors and beings of a generally malevolent and megalomaniacal nature. But after one of his latest creations, a zombie hydra-dragon-bear, tries to eat him, he decides that maybe it's time to find a new, less dangerous, career.

Not for me
Revisado: 01-30-24
Too short, story has no depth. Stop giving away books just to sucker people into buying 3-4 sequels

Absolutely phenomenal
Revisado: 09-30-23
The original night angel trilogy was a fantastic fantasy series that was very rightfully held to a trilogy. In an era of much overhyped fantasy series that don’t exactly live up to their fan bases exclamation of greatness, especially when adapted for TV & readers opine of how great the novels are (see The Witcher series & Game of Thrones) The Night Angel Trilogy still stands tall. Often, especially in fantasy series, where character arcs and storylines are drug out or the third book ends up being a letdown (Broken Empire Trilogy). The Night Angel series kept pace, especially with Shadows Edge (2nd in the trilogy) being a masterpiece. Though the finale may have been grandiose and a little “epic” it was still a satisfying conclusion. What Brent Weeks did with Night Angel: Nemesis is nothing short of a masterclass. Released 15 years after the original trilogy, the story picks up with our morally comprised protagonist not long after the events of original Trilogy’s ending, It explores the after affects of what occurred to all relevant characters but in a completely new way. Told from 1st person point of view in the form of a written Journal by Kylar, this is an in depth character piece more than anything else. Yes, the story is excellent and a lot of familiar faces make their appropriate appearances. It does an excellent job of balancing multiple antagonists, never really letting the reader settle on a “true north” for a villain. All the while the narrator does his best to convince us that he is the biggest antagonist of his own tale. By the end his very best to convince you. This book is what the best of the original Night Angel trilogy was, great characters on a roller coaster of tightly tuned storytelling, with every decision seems to have a great weight to it until they reach the next. Where the original trilogy was a story of Kylar becoming the Night Angel while the world seemed ready to burn at every turn. Nemesis is so much more, the settings and world is rich but much smaller & they take a backseat. This is Kylar’s story and every view of any character or the world is very much his own. This was great writing by Brent Weeks & it’s form a contrast to the original in nothing but good ways. A must read & this might not only be the best fantasy novel of the year but one of the very best written in the last 20 years.
