It was all just a dream~
Revisado: 08-22-24
Skipped/Scrubbed through 4+hrs on 2x. Love the series but..This book is multiple hours of what essentially boils down to a dream sequence and zero progression. Hopefully in the next one they don't get stuck in an illusion or trip on shrooms and waste another 8hrs of my time finding themselves again.

"BY THE WAY"
Revisado: 05-02-24
I don't know why hearing "By the way" over and over again drives me nuts but it does. You wrote the book. You don't need the narration to add important details at the end as if you forgot them. Just restructure the information delivery to be more natural. Good story if a bit formulaic and short. Keep it up

First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Power scaling is all over the place. What happened to his runic knowledge and nose to the grindstone attitude he used when training for the knights exam. Where is his ability to channel the energy of the universe at higher rates? Why isn't he running around flooding dugeons with his near inexhaustible but sometimes very exhaustible not illusions, absorbing dungeon cores to bridge the power gaps? Why is the average guard who is apparently unable to afford proper training and treasures so much stronger than the MC who has killed multiple gods and absorbed their power bases? Why are cards seen as comparible to low cultivation and as if being able to match its strength to the point where they can just hand a few out to kill some gods. Why is it that these cards are seen as a significant power boost for the denizens but they continue to act like Jake has never been anywhere near the average guards level of strength? Previously Jake was learning to if not able to reinforce his body with the energy of the universe to the point where even cards are supposedly lacking according to the knights. All the other reviews about MC becoming a hypocrite and seemingly turning into a bargain bin manhwa protag feel spot on. I'm just waiting for him to try and build a harem of women who are all somehow way more competent than him and constantly let him know how much he needs them because friendship or something. Alright.. I'm worn out. Final thing. Dude really needs a card for enhanced memory because for someone who gets killed multiple times by the same few people he really can't stop goofing around and even remember their names or his oath to save his world that does or doesn't exist because timelines.

Historia
He doesn't want to destroy the world. Problem is, he's an Apocalypse. Zeke and his friends are enjoying the city when suddenly, the apocalypse begins. Which one? ALL OF THEM. Lucky (or unlucky) enough to be chosen as an apocalypse himself, Zeke sets off to [Devour] his way to the top! It wouldn't be so bad, but his best friend's out to kill him, that rock has a gun, and everything, literally everything, has gone to hell. Zeke just came out here to have a good time, and honestly, he's feeling so attacked right now.

Not bad. Needs a proofreader and editor.
Revisado: 02-19-24
Read the title. A few repeated lines exactly as an audio "glitch" and a few repeated thought processes by the MC as if he's never had them before. Seems like the author forgot he wrote some lines then had them near verbatim in later chapters. Also the dialogue is a little scatterbrained between the characters. But overall it's fun story with a fun concept and I'm excited to see what happens next.

Historia
After a successful auction, the young Prince Edgar requested Derek’s help on an issue that concerned the safety of the entire Kingdom of Cydaria. A new, level 250 raid dungeon appeared, and Edgar needed the kingdom’s elite to help clear it before the unstable dungeon overflowed, or even worse, broke. Leaving his shop in the trusting hands of Malorie, and with everyone’s insistence that he go, Derek agreed to the prince’s request and joined him and the others on the raid. However, the dungeon wasn’t what anyone was expecting, and when they went inside, they found that it was a trial dungeon.

Nothing happens- Pt.2 of (???)
Revisado: 02-15-24
I'd love to rate the story higher but nothing happened. Just like the previous installment of 4 I can't believe how little progress has been made. I guess 4-6 are shaping up to be one whole book (Jazz hands)..unless the next book is focused on soley the walk back to town. Just wait a few years before continuing this series. Maybe when there is a box set deal. Until then...Next time on Void Ball Z ("Screaming")

University was supposed to be a time of exploration, of learning, and new discoveries... I probably should have guessed that my problems weren't just going to vanish because I was feeling optimistic. The Fairy peoples have cut themselves off, taking important parts of me with them. A new threat emerges, wrapped in a righteousness that serves only to conceal a dreadful rot. Demons start to circle, Black Magic grows in power and influence, and my old enemies are starting to band together in the service of a new darkness.

MC is a simpering punching bag.
Revisado: 01-23-24
Bit of a long short one here. As always the the narration was great. HARD STOP. I had listen on 2x because it's just the same loop as the last book. Fake morals, incessant flirting, hospital visits from easily avoided injuries all so that he can be doted on over and over again. Now you would think that the ingenuity, care and planning he demonstrated in the first book would deepen as he grows into his power and gains experience from several life and death experiences. Instead you have someone so flooded with hormones and disney princess logic that he constantly turns his back on people who's whole MO is to literally stab him specifically in. the. back.
I don't know what happened to the shadows instinctively protecting him from the first book because as of right now he has ZERO automated defenses magical or otherwise and it shows every chance it gets.
Unfortunately I'll be dropping this audio and just skimming the kindle books for the key notes. Unless the MC gets castrated for his own good or learns how to stop letting his weakness be his main attribute that is where I stand.

A new drug is flooding the streets, capable of giving Magic to humans. It's addictive, powerful... and not what people think it is. I make a powerful new enemy, alienating the other Archons in the process, and she's clever enough to make me regret it, drawing me ever deeper into a web of vice, power, and evil that I struggle to untangle before it's too late. I discover new allies but also new threats and terrors from when humanity was young. Monsters close in from every side, bringing heartbreak, loss, and guilt.

Incessant flirting with a smidge of hypocrisy
Revisado: 11-10-23
Enjoyed it overall. I love the characters and Im excited to continue the story. Matthew is clever but still believably a naive teenager with a penchant for concussions.
That being said... I had to fast foward through some parts that were just non stop repeated gushing. I'm not sure how many times someone can be "kissed on the cheek" in one book. Also the justifying of drugging and R**e regardless of how supernatural it is, was a bit gross. As well, the damning vitriol towards one torturer and the complete forgiveness of another because "all life is precious" came off as more like "all life is precious"..if it's convenient for me and I didn't see the bad parts first hand. All in all I'm getting the next one if that says anything.
So if you can tolerate a not so starry eyed teenager who's moral compass is skewed towards convienience then by all means pick it up.

Savannah was unlike any city Derek had ever been to. For the first time since his arrival in Cydaria, Derek actually met a respectable city lord. Natalie Savannah and the city she ruled were much more than he’d imagined. With this combination, Derek made the decision to put down roots by building a shop from scratch and moving his people in. He was even able to get Silvi the beloved kitchen that she so desired, along with personally meeting Alanah Swan and learning new things about the new system he was thrown into—things that only someone who was truly strong would know.

I feel like someone just led me in a circle for a few hours then said "Wow wasn't that exciting! Hope you buy another ticket to go again!". I thought it was just me but the other reviews really cemented my concerns. I'll get the next one but if it's just going to be ¼ of a book again I'll have to drop until more are released.

Half a book
Revisado: 07-20-23
I might have missed something but it feels like nothing happened. All the progress made was already there from the beginning of the book. I'll have to listen through again but it really read like filler with a half hearted tournament thrown in. The Ancient Black persona was supposed to be an untouchable new level of power but he just did some floppy defending and sucker punching without much of the wow factor and ingenuity he showed as plain old Ian or his (Skyren?) nom de guerre days. His world also felt like it had some development but it was all tell and no show. Overall I'm excited for more from this series and Author moving forward and would love to see more world and character development put on display that interconnects with the main plot while supporting it.
Narrator is a baller thats all I have to say about that.
