A new perspective on problem solving
Revisado: 06-28-24
I found this book fascinating. The idea that survival depends as much on the way you think as your skill set, luck or availability of resources was interesting.
I felt it crossed over into every day life. The principles of survival when applied to any problem solving seems to be a better way to resolve whatever task is at hand. I could immediately see the correlation to successful vs less successful individuals. Breaking things down to manageable goals, celebrating successes, and looking at challenges without confined thinking allows people to reach goals which on their face appear unattainable. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone even if you aren’t diving with sharks or climbing mountains.

When Faye Travers is called upon to appraise the estate of a family in her small New Hampshire town, she isn't surprised to discover a forgotten cache of valuable Native American artifacts. However, she stops dead in her tracks when she finds in the collection a rare drum, ornamented with symbols she doesn't recognize and dressed in red tassels and a beaded belt and skirt, especially since, without touching the instrument, she hears it sound.

I’ve enjoyed this authors books previously and I expected a more compelling & interesting story. The characters were not fully explored and came off as two dimensional. I wished I’d skipped using my credit on this one. It definitely was unworthy.

I enjoyed it very much.
Revisado: 06-12-23
The characters were interesting, well rounded and developed to have both good and bad. The tails of their trials and good fortune moved along smoothly and kept my interest. If you like period pieces I’d definitely recommend it.

Mediocre at best

I didn’t find this a very compelling story. It could have been but the characters weren’t very well developed & the book dragged in many areas.

It was a good storyline
Revisado: 05-08-23
I enjoyed the main characters & the story itself. The animal treatment was pretty hard to take but I know in a period piece it’s not uncommon. The characters in the story were compelling however things did get somewhat predictable as it developed. Overall I enjoyed listening.

A chilling story filled with twist & turns
Revisado: 02-04-23
I haven’t read Koontz in ages but this was free with my audio subscription. It was excellent. I enjoyed the characters, the story development and found it technical enough so all disbelief didn’t need to be suspended. There was plenty of action and mystery. I’ve already purchased the next book in the series.

Interesting and insightful
Revisado: 02-01-23
I enjoyed this book and it’s look into the world of medicine. I found it honest and insightful in the cases discussed. I had very little scientific information on the brain or nervous system and this opened a small window to that field of medicine. It was entertaining and interesting.

A lovely tale filled with heart
Revisado: 01-11-23
I very much enjoyed this tale. The characters are rich. The giraffes are heartwarming and the mischievous twist and turns of the adventure is captivating. The switch from present to past is well done and adds to the story rather than distracting from it. It’s an all around adventure for anyone who enjoys a period piece and animals.

Revisado: 12-18-22
As the first book ended I wanted to know more. This book gave me exactly what I hoped. It was well written and allowed me the insight into who these characters were and how they played each role in the narrative. It was also an interesting take on healing and how to see each person from different points of view. Listen & enjoy
