What disappointed you about Use of Force?

I just finished reading book 7 by Ben Coas. His whole series is right up there with my favorite, Vince Flynn. The narrators in these books were just excellent not to mention, the wonderful stories and writing.

There is not much of a story in "Use of Force", but the narrator certainly doesn't help. The performance is as if he is reading the phone phone book. I just couldn't go on with it. I listened to the sample and thought it would be okay and I normally forge ahead but didn't this time. I understand that people have different tastes in narration, but I have appreciated the reviews that give comment on that. So I hope this is helpful to some. If you like Brad Thor, perhaps reading instead of listening would be better.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I just downloaded a detective thriller, "But For the Grace, and the novel, "Before We Were Yours."

What didn’t you like about Armand Schultz’s performance?

Boring. He doesn't perform he read like he's reading the phone book.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Sorry, not really.

Any additional comments?

Thank you for the opportunity to voice my opinion and send a book back.

I wish to give the listener a heads up on this one. First, while it's true that the story is extremely informative, it is also true that it is the most depressing listen one could imagine. Suffering from the beginning. Suffering in the middle. And... suffering at the end. The only redeeming factor is the love and true friendship offered, yet, there is no redemption for this lost soul. After all he went through and all the love extended, he could not get past the terrible an unfathomable abuse he suffered. Second, twenty plus hours of this is a little much

This book is ridiculously insipid and unrealistic. While it's true that there are really good people in the world, no one on the planet could be as 'perfect' as Joe. I kid you not. Not ONE fault with this guy. I am surprised at the reviews and was taken in by them which is quite rare. Usually the reveiws are very helpful. I would have returned it but I got it on the 3 credit deal. I do love Joe Barrett, but even he couldn't redeem this book.

I wish I could give these first two books in the series 10 stars. I am a fan of Steig Larson, Jo Nesbo, Henning Mankell, and Vince Flynn, whom I deem to be the very tops in mystery thrillers. If you are fans of these authors, I am sure you will be capivated by this series. I am now on the third book with great anticipation.

Asa Larsson's first book was wonderful in every way! Loved it. This book falls way short in every way. The narration is very poor, the plot meanders all over the place. Not even the title makes any sense. In between chapters on the murder plot is inserted a sub-story on wolves (which is interesting, except how is it supposed to connect to the story?).Maybe I missed the point because I kept falling asleep. I ignored some of the reviews on this. But her first book in the series was so good, I couldn't imagine this one wouldn't have some merit.

I have really enjoyed this series. I, like other have gone through it pretty fast. I so agree with other reviewers about the narration. This reader might be good somewhere else but is NOT Cork! I wish audible would offer an explanation on why the change narrators in the middle of a series. I think you might get through this, but it definitely takes away the enjoyment. This story is good, and I want to get to the rest of the series, so I endured it. You definitely need to read this in sequence.

I really wish I had found Vince Flynn AFTER listening to a number of other authors, including this one. Of course the Bourne Identity rates right up there too. But everything else I've listened to pales in comparison. Based on the reviews, I am going to listen to one more book from Alex Berenson, and I have not tried Barry Eisner yet, but to those who really like Spy thrillers, who have not read Vince Flynn yet, try these first. You might find less disappointment when you finally get to Vince Flynn.

This is an excellent series. I have lost a lot of sleep because it is really hard to put down. I tried the first book because George Guidall was the narrator. He is just so good and one of my favorites. The second book was also narrated by George. Then the third book came along. Not a good narrator, but now, yet another narrator with book 5 -- the worst ever! I don't understand why Audible changes narrator's especially when they have found a narrator that is pitch perfect like George. It is so annoying.

I will "suffer" through book 5 because I love the series so much. And finally.... George will be back on the horizon with book 6. Something to look forward to. By the way, it is important to read the series in order.

I usually shy away from books, that have consistant 3 star ratings, but after reading a few reader reveiws that I trust, I went with it. And I am so glad I did. I only rated it 4 stars because 5 stars for me is what I consider blockbuster. The character, Katherine, and the story reminded me of Jacqueline Winspear and Louise Penny books. Cloudland is a good mystery that keeps you guessing, has a great narrater, and has characters you would might like to know in real life. I could see a serios here, so I hope the Author gives us more of Katherine and Vermont.

Unfortunately, I read the Informant first because I didn't know that it was the last in a series. To get the most entertainment, it's best to start with the Butcher Boy, then move to Sleeping Dogs, and then The Informant. People rave about the Informant and I agree. It was a phenomenal book. The first two books have had mixed reviews, but taken all together this is one of the best series I have listen to. The narration could have been better, but the story sweeps you in. If you like Tana French, Henning Mankel, and Jo Nesbo, you should give this a listen. It's one of those series of books that is hard to put down.
