A rare and profitable book
Revisado: 04-13-23
I have already recommended this book to a friend. It is a rare glimpse into the life a little girl who rises to become a Supreme Court Justice. She shares wisdom and generously gives credit to all those who made her successes possible. It is a lovely glimpse into a loving but flawed family and all the people dear to her during her life. One ends the book almost feeling like a close friend who has known her all her life.

This author should be a Best Seller!
Revisado: 04-13-23
This is a great story, beautifully written. It is just as good as any mystery/thriller I have read by famous authors. It is not a "he said, she said" book. Knowledge about the national parks is woven into the plot, so it's not just a soap opera and whodunnit. Very glad I discovered her on Audible. I will recommend her books.

This liberated existence we all long for is as simple to say as it is difficult to do: We are called to love everybody, always – even when it’s really difficult.

Unusual and inspiring story
Revisado: 10-12-22
This is a difficult book to describe. The author's life is almost unbelievable, goofy and noble and sacrificial and dangerous. He presents a way of living, loving, that is probably unattainable for most of us, but surely inspires us to try. I recommend this book highly and bought the paper copies to share.

Truly an unsung and amazing story
Revisado: 10-12-22
This story is a bit slow starting, but the author had to establish the distance in character that this seemingly empty headed teenager travels to reach truly heroic stature at such a young age. I have read and listened to this story more than once. This is a piece of history which needed to be told. Thanks, Mark.

Historia
How does a pro-choice doctor who once performed abortions for Planned Parenthood wind up on the opposite side of this embattled issue? Dr. Patricia Giebink was overpowered by God’s perspective at a healing conference, becoming a pro-life advocate who repented before millions for doing abortions. As the author tells her emotional story, you'll come away with a new understanding of the complexity of life, the risks of abortion, the power of prayer, and the greatness of God’s love and forgiveness - which is big enough to cover the pain of all affected by this controversial procedure.

Historia
The Irish-American story, with all its twists and triumphs, is told through the improbable life of one man. A dashing young orator during the Great Famine of the 1840s, in which a million of his Irish countrymen died, Thomas Francis Meagher led a failed uprising against British rule, for which he was banished to a Tasmanian prison colony. He escaped and six months later was heralded in the streets of New York - the revolutionary hero, back from the dead, at the dawn of the great Irish immigration to America.

I have read this book before, but enjoyed listening to it. It is an amazing life story which includes history in England, Ireland, Tasmania, the Civil War in America and finally the west. This book is educational and entertaining. Hated to have it end. Great job, as usual, Timothy Egan.

It was the final test. A chance to win not only the love of Allah, but the love of her father - something she had never been able to earn. Esther took a deep breath and raised her hand in the air. At the age of 18, she had just volunteered to become a suicide bomber. Defying Jihad is the true story of a girl growing up under radical Islamic rule, trained to believe her ultimate purpose was to serve Allah by dying as a jihadist. But two nights before she was to leave forever, she had a dream...one that would change the course of her destiny.

Historia
Known to generations of Americans for his stirring call to arms, “Give me liberty or give me death,” Patrick Henry is all but forgotten today as the first of the Founding Fathers to call for independence, the first to call for revolution, and the first to call for a bill of rights. If Washington was the “Sword of the Revolution” and Jefferson, “the Pen,” Patrick Henry more than earned his epithet as “the Trumpet” of the Revolution for rousing Americans to arms in the Revolutionary War.

Unexpected delight!
Revisado: 03-09-22
I have a collection of biographies about our founding fathers and other historical themes. Finding this story about Patrick Henry was a surprise. I, as well as many others, had him caricatured, saying, "Give me Liberty or give me death!" He said so much more than that and was extremely important in the birth of our nation. He should get more credit. I think he lost out because he was so passionate about states' rights and did not have a vision of a great nation consisting of states. But then, how could he have foreseen? I guess others did and became more famous in our history. I recommend this book. It gives you another view of the revolution.

Historia
Where the Light Fell is a gripping family narrative set against a turbulent time in post-World War II America, shaped by the collision of Southern fundamentalism with the mounting pressures of the civil rights movement and '60s-era forces of social change. In piecing together his fragmented personal history and his search for redemption, Yancey gives testament to the enduring power of our hunger for truth and the possibility of faith rooted in grace instead of fear.

Revisado: 02-04-22
We have several Philip Yancey books, but this very painful memoir makes his writing all the more remarkable. He is always brutally honest in his books, and writing this book must have been very painful. That his faith not only survived but flourished in spite of his very conflicted religious upbringing give us all hope that the love of God can reach us no matter what our circumstances.
