Not bad, not his best.
Revisado: 07-30-22
The narrator was very good and the story was average. I've read worse by King but I've also read better.

Historia
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Under the Dome.
Revisado: 07-19-22
After the disaster of the TV show I put this book off for awhile. I was convinced to give it a try by my Constant Reader Fanclub on Facebook and I'm happy I did.
The narration and story were very good. The ending could've been better, especially for the main villain, but it was satisfying.

One small handwritten letter, sent from a dark, remote corner of the planet and lost in the system for 60 years, is about to change the entire human race. Outside Denver, Colorado, Joe Rickards stands over a small aircraft wreckage, studying burnt remains still smoldering in a field of freshly fallen snow. He's an investigator for the NTSB, working to carefully roll back the last several hours and identify the cause of the accident. But this time, he can't.

Book 1 of The Monument Series
Revisado: 06-22-22
My 1st book by this author. The premise and reviews were interesting. I'm always willing to listen to Scott Brick read ANYTHING too.
The story was decent and I kept my interest but it didn't stand out as excellent or blow me away. I may go on to the next book in the series someday but for now I'll move on to something else for now.

Historia
After a bizarre and disturbing incident at the funeral of matriarch Marian Savage, the McCray and Savage families look forward to a restful and relaxing summer at Beldame, on Alabama's Gulf Coast, where three Victorian houses loom over the shimmering beach. Two of the houses are habitable, while the third is slowly and mysteriously being buried beneath an enormous dune of blindingly white sand. But though long uninhabited, the third house is not empty. Inside, something deadly lies in wait.

Anytime RC Bray is the narrator you know it's going to be a great performance.
I do enjoy books by Michael McDowell but this wasn't as good as his Blackwater Saga. I'd still recommend to a friend.

Excellent conclusion to The Last Survivors
Revisado: 06-11-22
You REALLY need to listen to The Last Survivors box set before The Ruins. This takes the characters who left the town of Brighton to venture out and live in "The Wilds" rather than remain subject to the rules and laws of those in power.
Anytime Sean Runnette narrates a book I often consider a listen because he's excellent at narration.
No spoilers from me but I'll say this is a satisfying conclusion to the characters we come to know in The Ruins.

Worst Bentley Little book EVER.
Revisado: 05-12-22
I'm a fan of Bentley Little and the horror genre. I made it to halfway only because of the excellent narration.
I do not like to post spoilers but will say this book is all over the place. It's hard to follow or hold your attention and rather than scary or even creepy, the boy's sexual obsession with his own sister is positively disgusting. To make that a plot point and to drag it on and on for HOURS is just too much.
I will try more books by this author but will be taking a break from him for awhile. I'm hoping audible allows me to return this trash and have my credit back.

Absolutely Perfect.....
Revisado: 04-29-22
I'm a fan of Stephen King and have read or listened to most of his work. This was excellent. The story, the narration, and the author are at top form here. I'd certainly rate this in my top 10 audiobooks of the over 1000 I've listened to over the years and definitely in my top 3 King books.
Even if you've seen the movie, it's good to revisit old friends here. Big John Coffy (same as the drink but not spelled the same), Paul, Brutus, Percy, and of course Mr. Jingles on the Green Mile.
The narrator brings it all to life and really draws you into the story.
5 stars, since there's no higher rating.....

Historia
From the mind of the man Stephen King calls "a master of the macabre", comes a brilliant new collection of no-punches-pulled horror stories, some never-before-collected and many originals that have never been published anywhere before. Bentley Little can take the innocuous, twist it around, and write a story that will change your way of thinking. Walking Alone: Short Stories is a shining example of his talent to scare you, creep you out, and make you shudder.

My 1st Bentley Little book.....
Revisado: 04-27-22
I enjoyed these stories. A few of them were very good and some of them were above average and fun. I only had one I didn't enjoy and another that I wouldn't have missed if left out of the book.
I'd definitely recommend to any friend who likes sci-fi or fiction mixed with horror.

Even as he struggles to escape, David begins to feel a certain amount of respect for his captor. It wasn't bad. I'm a fan of Scott Brick's narrations and he's the reason I decided to give this a chance.
I won't post spoilers, but I didn't care for the ending. I really felt let down and had to force myself to complete the book.
