Historia
Orson Scott Card is a master storyteller, who has earned millions of fans and reams of praise for his previous science-fiction and fantasy works. Now he steps a little closer to the present day with this chilling look at a near-future scenario: a new American Civil War. The American Empire has grown too fast, the fault lines at home are stressed to the breaking point, and the war of words between Right and Left has collapsed into a shooting war.

Engaging and thorough provoking story
Revisado: 02-23-23
If you think you have a corner on the truth, then you are a fanatic. I live in downtown blue, but tend medium rare myself. Those who wish to enforce their belief system on everyone else will bring instability on us all. Where do you draw the line? Our country’s founding fathers struggled with this same questions. We still don’t have all right answers. At least considering this story, no matter how improbable, keeps the debate alive.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

Historia
A 3,000-year-old secret has put Zack Lancestrom within reach of power most interstellar empires would go to war over. There’s just one problem: In order to claim it, he’ll need to leave the planet, and there are gang members, feral aliens, and security forces sent by his own father standing in his way. With the starports closed to him, Zack has no choice but to assemble his own crew and steal a starship. He knows where he can find one, but the path leads straight through the Boneyard, the most lawless place on the planet.

Great story, annoying performance
Revisado: 01-30-23
I thoroughly enjoyed the story, but this performers odd pauses between what a character says and the name of the character is annoying as hell. I was only able to survive the narration by setting the playback speed to 1.25x.

Historia
Laz is a side-stepper: a teen with the incredible power to jump his consciousness to alternate versions of himself in parallel worlds. All his life, there was no mistake that a little side-stepping couldn’t fix. Until Laz wakes up one day in a cloning facility on a seemingly abandoned Earth. Laz finds himself surrounded by hundreds of other clones, all dead, and quickly realizes that he too must be a clone of his original self.

Not much action
Revisado: 01-09-23
Fine story. Lots of time spent with characters contemplating lots of things, but not much in the way of action, or even in a satisfying conclusion. Good storytelling otherwise.

Historia
After forming a coalition of human resistance against the enemy invasion, Dalinar Kholin and his Knights Radiant have spent a year fighting a protracted, brutal war. Neither side has gained an advantage, and the threat of a betrayal by Dalinar’s crafty ally Taravangian looms over every strategic move. Now, as new technological discoveries by Navani Kholin’s scholars begin to change the face of the war, the enemy prepares a bold and dangerous operation. The arms race that follows will challenge the very core of the Radiant ideals.

Surprised that I am disappointed
Revisado: 03-01-21
I love Brandon Sanderson’s work. I’ve read or listened to every book he has written. He single handedly turned WoT into a viable story. Then he wrote RoW, and surprised me with a fail of epic proportions. It drags on for 50+ hours with no satisfying conclusion, only more lose ends, and more dis-functional characters and inchoherent parallel story lines. I won’t give up on him because of one failure, but I will hesitate to give up another 50+ hours of my life if the next book starts dragging on like this one did. I expected a book this long to at least have some satisfying conclusion(s), but it doesn’t.
I hope this isn’t a sign that Brandon Sanderson has jumped the shark on us.

Less than satisfing ending
Revisado: 08-23-17
This is a fun series. In the author's evil way, he set us up expecting this book to nicely wrap things up, and then disappoints. Now I have to wait for the next book in the series. I suppose the journey often beats the destination, so who's to complain, we have more story coming...

Silly goodness
Revisado: 08-15-17
It's actually more entertaining than you might think to hear about writing style and author techniques in the middle of the story. Whatever you do, don't start this book at the last chapter, you'll regret it if you do.

Historia
So now you've heard all about me, Alcatraz Smedry, and how I was swept out of my life in your normal world and into the fight against the Librarians (jerks!). After being all heroic and stuff in that tale, I didn’t expect to charge headlong into enemy territory: the Library of Alexandria, where I—and my grandpa and my grouchy bodyguard Bastille and her even grouchier mother and some weirdly gifted cousins—run across the Curators (ghosts who will gladly help you check out a book as long as you don’t mind giving up your mortal soul) and some new nasty Librarians who hate our guts.

His own kind of humor
Revisado: 08-09-17
Brandon Sanderson has his own kind of humor. I happen to enjoy it. It's nearly as random as The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, yet uniquely Sanderson.

Historia
Everything I’d known about the world was a lie. On my thirteenth birthday, I, Alcatraz Smedry (yes, I got named after a prison, don’t ask), received my inheritance: a bag of sand. And then I accidentally destroyed my foster parents’ kitchen. It’s not my fault, things just break around me, I swear! I thought the sand was a joke until evil Librarians came to steal it. You’re probably thinking, “Librarians are nice people who recommend good books,” but that’s just what they want you to think!

Fun, light-hearted listen
Revisado: 08-07-17
I added this book to my Audible library months ago, but just couldn't get myself to listen to it. The title alone was a big blocker for me. Perhaps having such low expectations made this much more delightful than I expected, but it turned out to be more entertaining than I had hoped. It reminded me a bit of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, in just how twisted an author can manage to tweak the imagination. If you like that kind of humor, you'll enjoy this book.

Historia
Xenocide is the third installment of the Ender series. On Lusitania, Ender found a world where humans and pequeninos and the Hive Queen could all live together; where three very different intelligent species could find common ground at last. Or so he thought. But Lusitania also harbors the descolada, a virus which kills all humans it infects, but which the pequeninos require in order to transform into adults.

alaxy. Humanity was slowly making their way out from Earth to the planets and asteroids of the Solar System, exploring and mining and founding colonies. The mining ship El Cavador is far out from Earth, in the deeps of the Kuiper Belt, beyond Pluto. Other mining ships, and the families that live on them, are few and far between this far out. So when El Cavador's telescopes pick up a fast-moving object coming in-system, it's hard to know what to make of it. It's massive and moving at a significant fraction of the speed of light.

Unexpectedly well done
Revisado: 03-03-17
I didn't have high expectations of this series after the degradation of the Ender's series, but I was proven wrong. It's an exciting, action packed, and well written story. The audio performance is also excellent.
