Historia
The second novel in Isaac Asimov’s classic science-fiction masterpiece, the Foundation series. Led by its founding father, the psychohistorian Hari Seldon, and utilizing science and technology, the Foundation survived the greed and barbarism of its neighboring warrior-planets. Now cleverness and courage may not be enough. For the Empire - the mightiest force in the Galaxy - is even more dangerous in its death throes. Even worse, a mysterious entity called the Mule has appeared with powers beyond anything humanly conceivable. Who - or what - is the Mule?

My 316th audiobook - The Foundation is not for me
Revisado: 02-22-22
I've listened to lots of audiobooks, and this series is almost impossible to care about and be interested in. I've listened to other Asimov books, specifically "Pebble in the sky" and "The End of Eternity" and enjoyed them. I trudged through Foundation and, from the reviews, figured I must be missing something...So, I moved on to Foundation and Empire, and equally unimpressed and uninterested. The story bounces around and it's hard to really follow where it's going and care about the protagonists.
I came to the book after watching the Apple TV production, I will go back to watching that. The books have just too many spaghetti storylines to hold my interest. I just don't see how the story rates 5, 4, 3, or even 2 stars.

Historia
The sequel to the number one Audible Best Seller Earthcore, Mount Fitz Roy continues the tale of Patrick O’Doyle and Bertha Lybrand, who were part of the horror show that occurred far below the mountains of Utah. They learn that the "mother of all motherlodes” discovered there was not unique, that there is another deposit similar to it three miles beneath the towering peak of Cerro Chaltén on the disputed border between Chile and Argentina. O'Doyle, a middle-aged former member of a disgraced black-ops unit, gets his aging team back together to go after this fortune.

Good Sci Fi but annoying dialogue.
Revisado: 01-04-21
Ok, this is my third Sigler book...
The Science Fiction is great, the tough guy dialogue is, well, stupid. Think Star Trek 4 when Spock tries to use colorful metaphors in the 20th Century. Sigler, Pleeeaaassseeee stop with the colorful metaphors! I love everything else but feigning a Bad Ass really doesn't work and actually detracts because it's so laughable (and not in a good way)-At least for me.

Good idea, bad execution.
Geeze, way too much politics. This tripe preaches a narrow-minded and shallow perspective of the world.

“It happened fast. Thirty-two minutes for one world to die, another to be born". An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy - abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued, and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Brad Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl and risks everything to save her. As the experiment goes nightmarishly wrong, Wolgast secures her escape - but he can’t stop society’s collapse.

Long, plodding, and after 26 hours I give up
Revisado: 08-09-18
I think I'm in the minority here. I just can't continue with this book due to the amount of ancillary characters and information that just fills time and space with no point to most of it. I've listened to over 100 audible titles, but this is one of the few I just can't stomach, it drones on, and on, and on, and on....

Historia
David Sheff's story is a first: a teenager's addiction from the parent's point of view, a real-time chronicle of the shocking descent into substance abuse and the gradual emergence into hope.
Before meth, Sheff's son, Nic, was a varsity athlete, honor student, and award-winning journalist. After meth, he was a trembling wraith who stole money from his eight-year-old brother and lived on the streets. With haunting candor, Sheff traces the first warning signs, the attempts at rehabilitation, and, at last, the way past addiction. He shows us that, whatever an addict's fate, the rest of the family must care for one another, too, lest they become addicted to addiction.

I read both, Nic's genuine. David's pretentious
Revisado: 06-07-18
I loved it when David describes his feelings regarding Nic, but not the name dropping and spouting research - It's as if at times he is trying to convince the reader that meth really is the worst addiction someone could have. I found the research and interjections meaningless to his story. Example: At one point he unequivocally sites pot as a gateway drug - Really? I can see in David's writing how Nic would feel drawn to Star's or famous people.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Best book since "The Martian"
Revisado: 01-19-17
I've not finished the book, but Chapter 10 on Skippy is just about the funniest thing I listened to since Andy Weir's "The Martian". Refreshingly different and performed really well. If you like Scifi and laughing, you can go wrong here.

One of the worst Audible stories I've heard
Revisado: 01-18-16
Wow, this was just plain bad.
The exhaustive introspection of the main character is irritating to say the least. I feel like I have been dragged down into the mind of an anxiety tortured hoarder. I can't think of any reason for the way the character babbles on, agonizing on about every decision she makes. I remember yelling at the speaker - OMG just make a fricking decision. PLEASE! I can't think of a single character in the entire performance that I could give a rip about. I wish the author would have spent more time building the character, and less time gabbering on about her anxieties.
Also, if you're going to write a science fiction at least understand that interstellar travel isn’t measured in miles, get the distances right! I counted four times the character (who’s supposed to be an engineer) talks about traveling millions of miles to go to another planet (Uh, interstellar travel has to be measured in light years because of the distances involved). It’s like saying “I’m going Atlanta, a distance of millions of centimeters”.

Historia
After almost a century of peaceful exploration and colonization of space, the United Earth Space Force stumbles across a shockingly xenophobic alien race that has more and better armed ships and refuses all attempts at contact. As the outgunned Space Force is driven back in battle after battle in what appears to be a war of extermination, one officer experiences precognitive visions that help him blunt the enemy onslaught, but he can't control or predict when they occur.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

A rare combo of wit, sci-fi, action and suspense
Revisado: 03-03-15
This book is so well done you would think it actually happened. I applaud Andy Weir for having the ability to bring humor to sci-fi - Which is really rare in sci-fi books. I've read and listened hundreds of sci-fi, and I can't remember ANY that made me laugh like this book. If you are looking for aliens and ray guns you won't find it here, this is one man’s struggle to stay alive and get off Mars. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down.
This is great science fiction, well written, well researched, and full of suspense.
